‘Our staff have loved him for years!’ YouTube star visits Kent bistro

A hugely popular YouTuber was “an absolute delight” when he popped in for breakfast at a Kent bistro.

Callum McGinely, known online as Callux, took time to take pictures with staff after dining at Wellingtons Coffeehouse and Bar in High Street, Dover, on Saturday morning.

The YouTube star started his channel in 2012, accumulating almost 4 million subscribers through his vlogs, pranks and challenge videos.

Wellingtons’ manager Sharon Cullen said: “While we can’t say why he was down, we can say he was an absolute delight to look after.

“He ate our Wellington breakfast that he had heard about! So we were pretty chuffed.

“It was a surprise for our staff who have loved him for years and took the time to chat with them and take photos.”

Staff member Amelia added that it was a dream come true to meet the YouTuber she had grown up watching.

Wellingtons Coffeehouse and Bar opened in 2022, taking the old spot of sister company, The Meatball Company, after the firm decided to go mobile.

Aside from YouTube, Mr McGinely is also known for founding production company After Party Studios in 2016 and launching shoe brand notwoways in 2020.

He is also a frequent collaborator with one of the video-sharing platform’s supergroups, The Sidemen, who themselves have been no strangers to Kent.

In February, they filmed at Space Saver storage in Faversham as they recreated the iconic American TV show, Storage Wars.

Both The Sides fast food restaurant and The Sidemen store opened at Bluewater shopping centre in 2023.

While the chicken eatery is still going strong, the retail unit has since been vacated and filled by Gravity Arcade.
