Nottingham Forest file official legal complaint against Tottenham over Morgan Gibbs-White deal

Nottingham Forest have now lodged their legal complaint regarding Tottenham’s move for Morgan Gibbs-White, in a bid to halt what they believe is an improper approach.

Tottenham Hotspur fans are eagerly awaiting news over the potential signing of Nottingham Forest talisman Morgan Gibbs-White.

The 25-year-old, a versatile midfielder capable of operating as a number eight, ten or out wide, had caught the attention of both the Lilywhites and Manchester City.

While City opted to go after Ryan Cherki of Lyon, Tottenham moved and triggered Gibbs-White’s £60million release clause just an hour after agreeing a fee for new signing Mohammed Kudus.

Tottenham had a medical booked for Friday 11 July, and were set to make Gibbs-White Tottenham’s fifth signing of the summer – the fourth under new boss Thomas Frank.

However, in a bid to retain their talisman this window, Nottingham Forest were considering taking legal action against Tottenham.

It has since been reported that despite the attempts of the Tricky Trees to prevent a deal for the English midfielder from materialising, Tottenham remain confident of landing Gibbs-White.

Tom Barclay of The Sun has relayed a fresh report on the situation, stating that Nottingham Forest have now officially filed their legal complaint regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Gibbs-White.

Nottingham Forest have already lost one of their top performers from last season in Anthony Elanga, and reports claim the Forest’s owner is not prepared to lose Gibbs-White without resistance.

The 25-year-old has since returned to training with Forest, after missing the Tricky Trees’ opening pre-season clash against Chesterfield over the weekend.

Tottenham are still confident they will secure a deal for the midfielder, as they believe their approach for Gibbs-White was entirely within legal parameters.
