Don’t knock it until you try it.
Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique may inspire a worldwide movement thanks to a bold tactic his team has used at this year’s Club World Cup.
No, it is not the invention of a new position.
Nor is it a groundbreaking passage of passing that could carve open a rival team like a hot knife through butter.
Instead, it is simply booting the ball into touch from the kick-off.
Each match at the Club World Cup, PSG midfielder Vitinha has sent the ball flying over the sideline deep in the opposition’s defensive third.

Granted, the Parisians are instantly coughing up possession.
But it immediately gives PSG the chance to press their rivals deep in their own half in an attempt to force a turnover in a dangerous area.
It is a ruthless and relentless approach that doesn’t give the opponent any time to breathe right from the get-go.
Although they haven’t scored from the resulting throw-in, PSG’s bold approach has achieved results.
Throughout their Club World Cup campaign, they have scored the opening goal inside the first 20 minutes on three separate occasions.
Fabian Ruiz started the trend in the 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the group stages.
PSG enjoyed even faster starts against Inter Miami and Real Madrid in their knockout clashes.
Against the Major League Soccer outfit, Joao Neves put PSG ahead after just six minutes.
The same amount of time had elapsed when Ruiz opened the scoring against Madrid in their semi-final, which ended in a 4-0 victory for the Parisians as they tore their rivals apart.
Despite the usage of the strategy, Enrique could not take credit for devising it.
Instead, he revealed it was a French rival who inspired him.
“We copied it from Olympique Lyon,” Enrique said.
“We saw them do it, and I liked it.”
Enrique also hinted it may not be long until PSG scrap the tactic.
“At first, it worked well,” Enrique said.
“But now teams are starting to figure it out.”
