While the Nintendo Switch 2 has a powerful toolset with 4K, motion and mouse control options as well as a beefy processor, there’s been one major issue with it that fans cannot stop talking about. Where are the games? Why aren’t there already 200 Nintendo IP system sellers on it?

The console is backward-compatible with nearly every Switch title with them all running better than ever. However, many of us want to have new experiences. Even though the Switch 2 is only just getting started on its journey, we can’t wait for more games any longer and need to resort to other ways to keep our gamer minds busy.
10 Play Through Your Switch Backlog
If You Want More Games, Beat The Ones You Already Own

One of the Switch 2’s best features is not the ability to play the latest titles but to instead run Switch games at a buttery-smooth frame rate. The Switch was well known for being underpowered, and many games struggled to hit beyond 30 FPS. Now on the Switch 2, however, some of the worst-performing titles, such as Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, are actually playable, and they deserve your time.
Just like any gamer, we know you have a backlog of at least ten games that you have never finished or maybe not even started. With the Switch 2’s power and lack of new games it is the perfect time to revisit them. Even if you don’t have a backlog, there are tons of great games on the Switch and there is no way you have played them all.
9 Read Various Books Or Manga
Your Eyes Could Use A Break

RPG fans are going to really like this idea as, just like their favorite games, one of the best ways to pass time is by reading lines of story and dialogue. Books are closely linked to video games as a medium and, just like the visual spectacle of video games, books can take you on fantasy adventures full of creativity and deep characters unlike any other,
If you want to only interact with products that have the Nintendo seal of approval, there are plenty of Nintendo series that have their own manga adaptations too. From Mario, Pokemon, Kirby and Zelda to Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem and Splatoon, you’ll be surprised by the sheer volume of manga that Nintendo series’ have. Even if manga isn’t to your taste, there are plenty of good old-fashioned strategy guides or art books as well to keep your mind hooked in the gaming space.
Fun fact for ARMS fans only here! OK, now that it’s just the five of us, ARMS was originally going to get its own graphic novel written by the Sonic comic legend Ian Flynn, which was announced in 2017 but was later canceled in 2021.
8 Boot Up A Retro Console
Yes Your Wii U Is Retro Now, Deal With It

When the modern era of gaming leaves you bored, there’s always boundless fun to be found by revisiting your old favorites. Whether this is through the original hardware or through the Switch 2 itself while you wait for something new to pique your interest, how about you giving that one game yet another playthrough?

Tired of modern games costing $80 or containing microtransactions? We certainly are…
The fun of nostalgia will always be as enjoyable as the joy of experiencing something new. Even if you purchase a retro console that you have never experienced before, right out of the box you have a generation’s worth of quality titles at your fingertips. The novelty of older consoles is a thrill and experiencing the different hardware and eras of gaming is one of the most enjoyable parts of the hobby.
7 Get Into A Tabletop Game
Playing Games Doesn’t Always Have To Involve Videos

Taking a break away from the screens is important, but who ever said that means taking a break away from your favorite Nintendo IPs? Having such popular iconic characters, of course, means plenty of merchandise has been made and none has more than Pokemon. From countless plushies, toys, and collectables, Pokemon has it all, but it is one of the few Nintendo series to have its own Trading Card Game.
The Pokemon TCG is a blast for all ages, and even if you don’t want to play it, it can be just as fun to collect the cards that feature some stunning artwork from a wide range of artists. If Pokemon isn’t to your liking, there are plenty more wonderful tabletop games such as Magic: The Gathering or even Disney Lorcana that will get your mind off writing that Switch 2 hate post on social media.
6 Create Your Own Games In Game Builder Garage
Fine, We’ll Do It Ourselves

If Nintendo isn’t going to create a thousand games that you won’t even play anyway, you need to take matters into your own hands. Luckily, back in 2021, Nintendo released a title that gives you the tools to create the New Super Mario Galaxy 3: The Lost Levels game of your dreams on your Switch 2. Game Builder Garage is a simple game-making title that you can use to create the games Nintendo won’t.
Super Mario Maker 2 is another great option if you want to build your own Mario levels.
While it is quite limited, Game Builder Garage is great for newcomers to get into the basics of game making and, surprisingly, you can still do alot with the bare basics. Whatever game you want to play right now on your Switch 2 in a month or even a week, you could easily make a low-budget version for less than eighty dollars.
5 Download Nintendo’s Mobile Games
Pocket Sized Fun

The secret Nintendo system has been sitting right in your pocket the entire time you have been reading this, your phone! After realizing the potential profits it could make, Nintendo has been creating mobile titles of its most popular series to mostly large successes. These titles are all handcrafted for your tiny mobile device and, while being filled with microtransactions, they are still full of the same fun that the mainline titles are.

If you’re looking for a way to pass the time on the go, these free mobile games are the perfect choices!
Some of them may feel like watered-down versions of mainline titles such as Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem: Heroes and Mario Kart Tour, but these titles still provide their own experiences. Since most of them are free, it can’t hurt to download and try them out. Even if you have before, many have received numerous updates over the years.
4 Play Nintendo Fan Games
If Nintendon’t, Fans Will

Often, Nintendo fans have high expectations of the company to make the exact game they desire and when they don’t, they take it into their own hands. Fan games are an excellent way to enjoy some unique and passionate titles based on your favorite series while you await their glorious next official entry on the Switch 2.
Pokemon and Mario are some shining examples of series that have hundreds of quality fan games to keep you busy for decades. To name two modern gems, Super Mario & The Rainbow Stars is a wonderful 2D platformer that takes inspiration from popular indie platformers and injects beautiful sprite work into fluid controls. Meanwhile, PokeRogue turns the Pokemon series into a highly replayable roguelike that we still can’t get enough of.
3 Play IRL Nintendogs
Virtual Pets Without The Virtual Part

One of the DS’s most iconic titles was the dog-raising pet simulator that we were all obsessed with, Nintendogs. Despite it being left to rot as an IP by Nintendo, you can experience it yourself right now. While Nintendo won’t make a new Nintendogs for you to have a virtual pet, you could always spend time with your real one or look after someone elses if you aren’t in a position to make the commitment required.
Owning a pet (responsibly!) gives you more joy than any video game ever could and, while your Switch 2 has no games, you can play with your pet for years without ever getting bored by their adorable face. If you own a dog, you can train them or take them for walks or even just spend time at home watching them do silly things. Pets are the sweetest and most precious things in the world, and we doubt your Switch 2 will ever be able to make you feel the way they do.
2 Play Mario Kart World In True Mirror Mode
Antigravity Is Back!

One of the very few games that the Switch 2 launched with that we are 99 percent sure is the whole reason you picked up the console is Mario Kart World. This expansive entry in the series is a blast to play, but we are sure you have felt yourself getting a little bit bored by it one day at a time. That’s where we want to come in and give you an entirely new way to play the game.
Have you ever felt that the Mario Kart series’ Mirror Mode was a bit of a let-down? All it does is flip the tracks horizontally, which realistically does nothing to affect your enjoyment. Now with the power of the Switch 2, however, you can use the console in Handheld or Tabletop mode upside down to create a true Mirror Mode challenge or play like the entire game is an antigravity section like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
You could also do an all-cups challenge where you play through every single course in one sitting.
1 Touch Grass
Please Go Do This One

The final boss of every gamer will always be the impossible task of finally taking your eyes off the screen and taking a step… Outside! While many games are always trying to push how realistic they can get, nothing will ever be as detailed and alive as the real world around you is. With countless things to do, the outside of your moist gamer cave has endless content to enjoy.
You will be surprised how quickly time passes if you actually spend your day with someone you appreciate and every moment spent adventuring outside is like a new adventure. No matter what kind of games you are into, you can experience them outside too. Just maybe don’t try recreating games like Doom or GTA. For safety reasons, stick to growing plants like in Stardew Valley or exploring like in The Legend of Zelda.
