CAIXA is calling on startups across Brazil to help advance responsible gaming practices through its sixth Call for Startups, inviting proposals that develop innovative solutions tailored to the gaming and lottery industry.
Companies have until July 24 to submit their applications for the initiative, which aims to create a “Responsible Gaming Score” by analyzing betting data, player profiles, and behavioral trends.
The program, run by CAIXA Loterias, is designed to identify signs of risky gambling behavior through computational models that can monitor how players engage with betting products. The ultimate goal is to enable personalized communication and prevention measures that help mitigate problem gambling.
Selected startups will have the opportunity to enter into Public Contracts for Innovative Solutions (CPSI) worth up to R$1.6 million (US$292,000) per project, with a pathway to larger contracts reaching R$8 million (US$1.45 million) based on performance and project scalability.
Darlan Costa da Silva Lins, Executive Director of CAIXA Loterias, highlighted the purpose of the initiative: “CAIXA Loterias, as a partner of the public, is committed to further advancing its Responsible Gaming initiatives, and we believe this call for startups is an important step in that direction.”
The program aligns with the Responsible Gaming Framework set by the World Lottery Association, which outlines global standards for ethical and legal lottery marketing. CAIXA already holds Level 3 international certification under this framework.
According to the Central Bank of Brazil, about 24 million people made at least one Pix transfer to gambling and betting companies between January and August 2024. CAIXA Loterias itself processes more than 6 billion lottery bets annually across its nationwide network of physical lottery outlets and digital platforms.
Renan Martino, Executive Director of Strategy, Data, Channels, and Innovation at CAIXA, stated: “In addition to impacting the lives of many Brazilians, this call represents an important partnership between the innovation department and CAIXA Loterias. This strategy aims to maintain agility, test new models, and increasingly connect with innovative ecosystems.”
