This is what I’m buying from the Steam Summer Sale
It’s that fun time of the year for PC gamers, the Steam Summer Sale. Here are the games I’m buying and recommending to others for it!
5 Star Wars Outlaws
An opportunity for a deal

It can be fun getting immersed in a galaxy far, far away. Whenever I can find a Star Wars game for a great deal, it’s worth checking out. Star Wars Outlaws on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X happens to be the most recent Star Wars game that fans can pick up at a discounted price. The game follows Kay Vess and her companion Nyx as they make their way through the underworld of the galaxy, working with shady syndicates and crime lords to take advantage of a galaxy of opportunity. But along the way, Kay finds herself on the opposite side of Imperial law as the Galactic Civil War rages on between the Empire and the Rebellion. The game is set during a time in-between two major entries of the original Star Wars trilogy, where things were changing between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
For Prime Day, Amazon has an exclusive limited edition of Star Wars Outlaws that is discounted from its original price. Gamers can get the game on sale at over 50% of its original price. The limited edition from Amazon comes with the Rogue Infiltrator cosmetic pack, which gives Kay and Nyx alternate outfits to wear at the start of the game. But everyone can also get the Gold Edition of Star Wars Outlaws at a discount as well, which comes with the season pass for downloadable content out now. This means every story expansion that has been released for the game up to now can be downloaded immediately. These deals are only available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox versions of the game, while the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Star Wars Outlaws is still full price and will release in September 2025.
4 Assassin’s Creed Shadows
An honorable discount
The latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed series is already seeing some good discounts for everyone who didn’t pick it up at launch. Assassin’s Creed Shadows brings the franchise to feudal Japan, following the exploits of two protagonists instead of one. Naoe is a shinobi assassin who uses the series’ trademark stealth tactics and precision to complete missions, while Yasuke is a samurai warrior with power and endurance strong enough to bring down foes. The game has beautiful environments that recreate aspects of feudal Japan for players to explore, being authentic and very detailed within a period of Japan’s history.
Amazon has a limited edition of Assassin’s Creed Shadows that comes with an additional character pack, along with the base game, at a discount of 32% off the original price. Players can equip the Sekiryu pack for both characters, which gives them a new outfit and weapons to use during the game. The pack also comes with a unique mount for both, and an extra decorative item. The Prime Day deal for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X physical versions, while the PC and digital Xbox Series X/S versions are still full price. The Deluxe Edition of the game is also staying at full price. As someone who doesn’t always play Assassin’s Creed games on their initial release, I can definitely recommend grabbing the game now when it’s on sale during Prime Day.
3 Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Revisiting at a great deal

Source: Square Enix
The second entry in the ongoing Final Fantasy VII saga not only builds upon the scope of the first, but is now discounted for everyone who missed out on it before. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth picks up right after the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake, with many things happening for Cloud Strife and his allies. While they pursue Sephiroth across Gaia after leaving the city of Midgar, a familiar face named Zack Fair returns to Midgar, but things aren’t as they seem. Those who have been following the world of Final Fantasy VII will be surprised and in awe of the revelations that this sequel has for the entire saga, as well as the highly detailed environments that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth lets them roam around in. The story gets more intense, the battles are even fiercer, and what happens at the end will have great implications for what comes next for everyone’s favorite characters.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth gets an exclusive Amazon edition that comes with a PlayStation 5 controller skin. The skin covers the entire controller and features both Cloud and Sephiroth on it. This edition of the game is on sale at over 40% off the original price, and is only available for the PlayStation 5. The much more expensive Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is still at full price, mainly because it comes with a variety of items inside. If you haven’t already gotten the first game in the series, you can also pick up Final Fantasy VII Remake INTERGRADE at a discount as well during Prime Day sales, which is being offered at more than 25% off its original price. Now is the perfect time to grab these games and get caught up with the series before the next chapter is revealed.
2 Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
A classic reborn and on sale
Anybody that is a big JRPG fan will know the name Dragon Quest, especially with games like Dragon Quest III making a significant impact on the genre. Luckily for them and everybody else, Square Enix released an HD remake of the game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and the Nintendo Switch. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake recreates every aspect of the original JRPG classic, but gives it new life with beautiful HD visuals that feel brand-new. The game is the first in a trilogy of releases for the mainline Dragon Quest series, being dubbed The Erdrick Trilogy. Anyone that has played any game in the series before will feel right at home with the turn-based battles, big locations to explore, and the epic story that unfolds over the course of many hours of gameplay.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is discounted for all three platforms where you can play the game. Prime Day has the game listed at an over 40% discount from its original price. Unfortunately, there are no extras or special edition of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake during Prime Day. But if you’re like me and sometimes get in the mood for a classic JRPG experience, then you can’t go wrong with picking this revitalized classic.
1 Split Fiction
Discounts split between
A good co-op game can be a lot of fun to play through. This is why so many people enjoyed playing Split Fiction on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The game follows two girls named Zoe and Mio, who don’t get along with each other at first. But circumstances force them to work together as they find themselves traveling through crazy fantasy and sci-fi worlds. The game implements split-screen cooperative multiplayer, where each player needs to work together to overcome challenges and get around obstacles. The game is similar to other releases from Hazelight Studios, which also utilize split-screen co-op as a gameplay mechanic.
Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X physical versions of Split Fiction are discounted for Prime Day. However, the Nintendo Switch 2 version and digital versions on PC for Steam remain at full price. The digital edition of Split Fiction for Xbox Series X/S is also not discounted for Prime Day sales. If you have a buddy you like to play games with and want something cooperative to experience, Split Fiction is worth checkig out on any platform while it’s on sale.
Prime Day game discounts are great
Gamers love to see a good sale on new games they can buy. Whenever I see something like Prime Day coming around, I always think it’s a great idea to take a look at the offerings and see what gems I can pick up during the sale. New games that you may have skipped over before during their original release are often the best kinds of deals you can find, especially when the discounts are pretty big. For Prime Day 2025, I can recommend these games as great pickups to add to your gaming collection. You’ll thank yourself later for picking them up at a discounted price.
