August 2025 provides a great lineup of games for gamers, including sequels, new RPG, action-adventure games and other highly anticipated titles. Here’s a list of all games coming in August 2025.

August 2025 is looking like a blockbuster month for players of all platforms. Narrative-driven monoliths, anticipated remakes and so much more is on deck. 

We’ve got new installments in established series, open-world masterpieces, indie darlings, and a full slew of games releasing that have something to offer each and every player.

The action-adventure open-world Mafia: The Old Country is a complete remake of the fan-favorite series, the hilarious, bombastic, and gorgeous Black Myth: Wukong lands on consoles for the first time, and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater looks to take the stealth-action remake to new heights. 

Meanwhile, lighter fare like Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar and adrenaline-pumping indies like Pizza Bandit are sure to keep your backlog busy. If you’re a fan of shooters, horror, sports games, or storytelling, look no further.

The Rogue Prince of Persia – August

A rogue-lite spin-off to the legendary series, The Rogue Prince of Persia takes the parkour, traps, and time-twisting combat to a brand new level of challenge with its procedurally generated palace under siege. 

Created by the developers of Dead Cells, this 2D action game has frenetic combat, fluid animation, and a variety of upgrade paths that allow you to create your own build and combat style from run to run. 

Each time you die, there’s a chance to learn from your mistakes and adapt. Nothing is more dangerous than overconfidence in these halls of a magic empire with a roguelite loop and slick visuals.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 – August 5

The second installment of the Hinokami Chronicles extends the story and combat of the first game with two additional playable arcs, Swordsmith Village and Infinity Castle. 

Featuring more characters, smoother visuals, and more refined combat mechanics, Hinokami Chronicles 2 tightens up the anime brawler formula. 

Be it casually slicing demons in anime-fueled single-player or going toe-to-toe online, the game offers a mix of accessibility and mechanical depth. Fans of Demon Slayer and anime fighting games in general should check this one out.

Endless Legend 2 – August 7

Endless Legend 2 is the highly-anticipated sequel to Amplitude’s beloved 4X fantasy strategy series that fans and newcomers have been waiting for. 

Featuring deeper empire management, more complex diplomacy, and weather effects that change the map and influence battles, build your civilization in a living world that reacts to your diplomatic, magical, martial, and municipal decisions. 

With new factions to unlock, tactical turn-based combat, and lore integration woven even deeper into the game, Endless Legend 2 is a true spiritual successor created for hardcore strategy fans who don’t want to compromise on graphics.

The House of the Dead 2: Remake – August 7

Arcade zombie classic The House of the Dead 2 gets an HD makeover with The House of the Dead 2: Remake. 

Updated visuals, tweaked controls and new gameplay modes including co-op and score attack means you can blast through hordes of undead in gruesome locations such as creepy canals, laboratories and crypts. 

The game features an updated HUD, fully upgraded updated weapons, and a rewritten audio script with new voice acting. While you blast away, you’ll also unravel a pulpy, sci-fi tale full of campy dialogue and even crazier mutated monsters.

Chained Echoes – Ashes of Elrant DLC – August 7

Ashes of Elrant DLC Expansion is a post-game DLC for the critically acclaimed indie RPG, Ashes of Elrant. It features a brand new region, playable characters, and post game content with heavier combat and emotional stakes. 

You can also expect the same SNES style graphics, turn-based tactical gameplay, and multi-layered storytelling that the original had to offer, now expanded upon with more mechs, secret bosses, and new branching dialogue options. 

If you enjoyed the base game, this DLC is a must have expansion that enriches the lore and cast of the world even further.

 Mafia: The Old Country – August 8

Mafia: The Old Country is a new reimagining of the Mafia story, built entirely in Unreal Engine 5. Set in a meticulously crafted open world inspired by the Italian-American criminal underworld of the 1920s, you become a low-level thug for a notorious crime family.

It’s a world rife with treachery, blood-soaked street justice, and the politics of Prohibition. Expect a narrative-driven, open-world game experience focused on third-person action, mixed with a level of detail and authenticity to the period you won’t soon forget. 

It’s got everything from car chases on rain-slicked city streets to smoky underground speakeasies and explosive, cinematic gunfights. In short, Mafia: The Old Country is a gritty, character-driven crime saga built for the next generation of consoles.

 Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 – August 12

Initially released as an Xbox Series X|S exclusive, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 now launches on PS5. Developed in Unreal Engine 5, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 continues to draw from Norse mythology as you guide Senua through a series of unsettling and beautiful environments. 

The powerful, emotional story is complemented by the inclusion of hyper-realistic visuals and deeply engaging 3D audio. The combat is fast, frantic, and personal, as your inner turmoil is projected on-screen through your enemies. 

If there’s one thing you can expect from Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, it’s an audio-visual masterpiece that’s as dark, as poetic, and as emotionally brutal as the first.

 EA Sports Madden NFL 26 – August 14

Cross-play support and a more robust player progression system give new life to online leagues, while “Create-A-Team” returns with the ability to customize your club’s branding and uniforms.

 Midnight Murder Club (1.0 release) – August 14

The stylish mystery-adventure game Midnight Murder Club drops into full release with version 1.0, just a few months after a successful Early Access run. 

This interactive narrative game features visual novel storytelling mixed with point-and-click puzzles and time-loop mechanics. As a rookie detective you get caught in a single night of a series of murders in a secretive and ultra-elite club, trying to unravel its mysteries by rewinding time and making different decisions. 

The final game features additional endings, enhanced visuals, and expanded dialogue trees. With its noir vibes and strong writing, this one of the most narratively ambitious indies of the year.

 Drag x Drive – August 14

Drag x Drive is a arcade-style racing game with a big dose of futuristic style and drag-racing swagger, and is a Switch 2 exclusive.

Players compete in series of high-stakes races with fully customizable hover-cars, drifting through neon tracks, avoiding obstacles, and triggering tactical boosts. 

The game offers local split-screen and online multiplayer for short-burst competitive racing, as well as deep customization of both vehicles and driver abilities. Think F-Zero meets Need for Speed, with controls and performance that are fully optimized for Switch 2.

 Bendy: Lone Wolf – August 15

Bendy: Lone Wolf is the shift in tone of the popular indie horror game series Bendy to a more action-oriented third-person perspective. Players control a new protagonist who has been transported into Joey Drew Studios’ twisted, ink-themed reality and must find a way to escape while eluding cartoonish monsters.

The game features stealth, melee fighting, and some limited firearms and gunplay, while still utilizing the games’ traditional visual style and emphasis on psychological horror. 

With a deeper focus on narrative and story and larger environments to explore, Lone Wolf further expands the Bendy universe with new game mechanics and a darker theme.

 Sword of the Sea – August 19

From the studio that made Journey and The Pathless, Sword of the Sea is a beautiful, open-ended exploration game. It’s serene and wordless, but at the same time it’s also a captivating mystery that unfolds in a lost, submerged world of sunken continents, soaring dunes, ruins, and oceanic terrain. 

You ride the dunes atop your Hoversword, exploring and discovering an ancient world of lost civilizations and unlocking dormant leviathans in the process. Flow-based movement, meditative feel, and a wordless narrative work in concert to produce an emotional journey where the act of exploration is the payoff. 

If you enjoy atmospheric games with fluid movement and travel, wordless mystery, and spiritual discovery, Sword of the Sea is for you. Play with headphones and no distractions.

 Black Myth: Wukong – August 20

Black Myth: Wukong is a breathtakingly beautiful action RPG inspired by the classic Chinese epic, Journey to the West. As the Destined One, a mighty monkey warrior, you fight your way through a pantheon of mythological enemies including fantastical beasts, ancient gods, and cursed monsters. 

Expect furious combat mixing fast-action gameplay with magic, elemental abilities, and fantastical transformations. On top of huge bosses, gorgeously realized settings, and a deep mythos, Wukong is one of the most anticipated next-gen action games around – and by all early accounts, it’s worth the hype.

 Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road – August 21

Fans of the Inazuma Eleven series will finally be able to lace up their cleats and kick things into high gear in Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road, which debuts with a full story mode, new gameplay systems, and a roster of hundreds of recruitable characters. 

A fever dream of soccer action, the game mixes in anime-inspired super moves, and over-the-top story elements that create an RPG-lite experience that gives players room to build their own teams while also keeping the focus on fast-paced sports action. 

The story of Victory Road follows both new and familiar faces as they build their teams, create rivalries, and aim to take it all the way to the top. Whether you’re a fan of the series or a newcomer to the franchise, Victory Road is a ludicrously fun, customizable sports RPG with all the heart and humor you’ve come to expect from the games.

 Dying Light: The Beast – August 22

Dying Light: The Beast is a story expansion for the game that serves as both a conclusion and a narrative bridge between the original game and a potential third installment. 

Set in an industrial section of the city that’s been quarantined, the DLC introduces new infected variants, new nighttime stealth sequences, and branching story choices that can lead to different endings.

Players will take on the role of a veteran survivor dispatched to investigate a strange mutation that’s overtaking the local infected populations. The Beast builds on both the expanded parkour movement of Dying Light 2 and a new weapon crafting system while also doling out an extra helping of the game’s chillingly atmospheric soundtrack.

 Pizza Bandit – August 25

Pizza Bandit is a wild, top-down action game where you are a pizza chef gone rogue, fighting your way through a dystopian pizza empire overrun with rival gangs, corrupt cops, and mutant toppings. 

A twin-stick shooter with roguelike and hardcore elements, every playthrough is a fast-paced, arcade action fest with absurd weapons (anchovy launchers are a must), over-the-top enemies, and a constant assault of style: big, bold visuals; crunchy combat; and a killer synth-punk soundtrack. 

With dozens of modifiers to keep things fresh and daily challenges to return to, Pizza Bandit is pure arcade action for players who like their games with a side of cheese and a dash of chili flakes.

 Gears of War: Reloaded – August 26

Gears of War: Reloaded is a complete remaking of the original Gears trilogy, re-creating the iconic story of humanity’s war against the Locust Horde from the ground up with modern technology, reworked cutscenes and retuned gameplay. 

Gears of War: Reloaded is a new way to experience the story Gears of War fans know and love, with a host of new content (including side missions and extended character lore), updated enemy AI, and enhancements to existing gameplay elements. 

It’s all supported by a full cross-play experience and powered by Unreal Engine 5 for a gorgeous graphical upgrade.

 Helldivers 2 (Xbox release) – August 26

Years after debuting on PlayStation and PC, Helldivers 2 lands on Xbox. The third-person co-op shooter pits players against hostile alien races as they attempt to bring “managed democracy” to their planets. 

Brutally difficult missions demand close cooperation and careful tactics as players leverage powerful weapons and orbital firepower to push the attack. 

The Xbox version comes with all current updates and features full cross-play along with performance upgrades for Series X/S. Whether it’s swatting at bugs or nuking enemy encampments, Helldivers 2 is a hilarious, chaotic blast with friends.

 Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar – August 27

A remake of a Nintendo DS classic, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar tasks players with farming their own land, participating in a weekly bazaar, and wooing residents in an open, close-knit community. 

The overhauled version features a new art style, refined animations, expanded character development, and new marriage candidates. 

Under the hood, the latest entry in the farming series retains the original’s charm-plowing, planting, fishing, festivals, and more – but streamlines the gameplay loop with several quality-of-life upgrades. It’s cozy, colorful, and endlessly relaxing, and it’s our pick for the ideal handheld summer game.

 Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater – August 28

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a full remake of the stealth-action classic originally released in 2004. Developed with Unreal Engine 5, the action unfolds from the perspective of Naked Snake as he attempts to infiltrate the jungle during the Cold War, though it updates the game’s visuals, controls, and enemy AI. 

Fans can expect lush, reactive environments, new physics-based stealth mechanics, and a cinematic presentation that closely mirrors the direction of series creator Hideo Kojima. 

To preserve the legacy of the original, voice acting, music, and story remain unchanged. Fans and newcomers alike can expect a must-play stealth epic reborn for the modern era.

 Destiny: Rising – August 28

Destiny: Rising is the first mobile-exclusive entry in Bungie’s shooter franchise, designed from the ground up for touchscreen looting and shooting. 

Following the events of The Final Shape, Rising focuses on the streamlined elements that fans love: quick squad-based missions, seasonal story updates, and deep gear customization. 

While it still features Destiny’s signature classes and visual style, new mechanics have been introduced to suit the mobile experience: swipe-based combat abilities, bite-sized PvE raids, gear loadout slots, etc. 

Support for controller input and cloud saves also make Rising a great portable and lore-friendly Destiny entry for Guardians on the go.

 Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World – August 28

The Switch 2 update of Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a visually enhanced, performance-optimized version of the game, with new content in the form of the Star-Crossed World expansion.

Star-Crossed World, meanwhile, is an all-new expansion packed with fresh levels, copy abilities, and a new story-focused time-bending adventure across alternate dimensions.

 Super Robot Wars Y – August 28

Super Robot Wars Y is the latest entry in the long-running SRW series of mecha-focused strategy RPGs, with an all-new cast of anime mecha legends. 

This entry features anime series ranging from classics to recent hits such as Gurren Lagann, Code Geass, and SSSS.Gridman. Players can field squads of these iconic mechs in local and online grid-based turn combat, complete with flashy animations and powerful team combos. 

The SRW series is known for its engaging original stories that mix and match characters from multiple shows, and this entry is no exception. SRW Y comes with polished visuals, a refined UI, and English localization right out of the gate, making it a major victory for SRW fans worldwide.

 Shinobi: Art of Vengeance – August 29

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is a new take on SEGA’s long-running ninja action series, rebooting it with modern combat and stylish visuals. Players take on the role of a master shinobi, stealthily sabotaging rival clans and unraveling dark conspiracies in feudal Japan. 

With fast-paced combat a la Ninja Gaiden, a reactive parry system, wall-running traversal, and dynamic lighting in cinematic environments, Shinobi artfully balances old-school difficulty with new-gen game design. 

The campaign also stars a handsome new hero with a gravelly “evil teen” voice, a compelling revenge narrative, and more side quests to discover the underbelly of the ninja world.

 Lost Soul Aside – August 29

Lost Soul Aside is a gorgeous action RPG that is a love letter to Final Fantasy XV and Devil May Cry. Players take control of Kazer, a lone swordsman, as he treks across a gorgeous futuristic fantasy world that straddles the line between magic and technology, led by a shape-shifting dragon companion. 

The combat is fluid and dynamic, with an emphasis on flashy combos, spectacular mid-air juggles, and show-stopping finishers. With a melancholic narrative, awe-inspiring environments, and boss battles that can hold their own against AAA blockbusters, Lost Soul Aside is on track to be one of the most stylish and ambitious indie-developed games of the year.
