The 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller is now available in two versions — a standard edition and an Xbox edition. Unlike the Xbox edition which works with both Android and Apple devices, the former, which is compatible with only Android devices, is heavily discounted for Amazon Prime Day.
8BitDo just announced the Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller Xbox Edition, and there are a handful of ways it differs from the original that was announced last year. However, a key difference is that the Xbox edition works with both Apple devices (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS, and tvOS) and Android, whereas the non-Xbox edition is exclusive to Android devices.
However, if you are an Android user and you intend to remain one for the foreseeable future, then you should skip the Xbox edition of the controller and purchase the original instead as it is currently 50% off thanks to Amazon’s Prime Day shopping festival.
The 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller launched for $49.99, the same price as the new Xbox edition. But for Prime Day, Amazon is selling it for $25, half of its regular price. Although, it is important to note that the 50% discount only applies to the white version of the controller. The black variant is also discounted but by 20%, thus bringing the price down to $39.99.
The Ultimate Mobile Controller connects via Bluetooth to Android devices (Android 13 and newer) with a length of between 100mm to 170mm. It has Hall Effect thumbsticks and triggers, and with the 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2, users can adjust the range of the triggers.
In addition, the controller has 2 pro back paddle buttons, a turbo button, and a dedicated button for switching profiles. There’s a 300mAh Li-ion battery inside the Ultimate Mobile Controller that provides up to 13 hours of use on a single charge.
