Gayming is a Rainbow Colored Support System
The gaming industry is full of peoples of all kinds. Of course, within these expansive demographics, are members of the LGBTQ+. According to a report from GLAAD 1 in 5 active gamers are a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, further research discovers that 21% of people working in the industry are LGBTQ+. Importantly, in recent times, there have been attacks on DEI-policies and LGBTQ+ people. Luckily, this week the Gayming Foundation stands ready to provide support to the community. The Gayming Foundation is establishing its aims for supporting LGBTQ+ people in the gaming industry through its core pillars. Firstly, the foundation plans to empower workers through mentorships and support programs which aim to improve working lives of LGBTQ+ employees. Secondly, the foundation will support fans by offering funding to inclusive communities and providing guidance on how to better build these communities. The final pillar aims to encourage inclusivity through highlighting issues in the industry, celebrating the best practices, and resources to invoke change. Importantly, the Gayming Foundation is rolling out three programs, Gaymer Group Growth Fund (which will grant funds to Gaymer Groups), Double Jump (help advanced LGBTQ+ professionals transfer their skills to the industry), and PrideXP Boost Mentorships (connecting workers with content creators ect.)
