Mohammed Kudus has broken his silence following his move from West Ham United to Tottenham Hotspur, giving fans an early taste of what to expect from the club’s first big-money summer signing.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have now seen their club complete their first big-money signing of the 2025/26 summer window, with Mohammed Kudus joining from West Ham United for £55million.
The versatile forward, capable of playing across the front line and also as a number ten, has put pen to paper on a six-year deal that is expected to keep him at Hotspur Way until 2031.
This latest acquisition means that Thomas Frank has now overseen the arrival of three players since taking charge of Tottenham on 12 June 2025. Spurs’ summer spending under Frank is now at £89.5 million. However, one of those came in the form of Mathys Tel, who was at Spurs on loan last season.
Mohammed Kudus gives first Tottenham interview after £55m transfer from West Ham
It has since been revealed that despite interest from a host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, Mohammed Kudus only ever had eyes for Tottenham.
The recent transfer has left West Ham United supporters frustrated with the club’s hierarchy, as many are struggling to understand how one of their best players was allowed to leave for a relatively modest fee, especially when he had an £85million release clause.
Mohammed Kudus has now become only the sixth player to move from West Ham United to Tottenham in the last 23 years, and the first to do so in over a decade since Scott Parker made the same switch in 2011.
Now officially a Tottenham Hotspur player, Kudus has opened up on his decision to join Spurs, stating that he looks forward to giving his best in the Lilywhite shirt.
Mohammed Kudus told the official Tottenham channel: “I’ve always wanted to play at the highest level. How big the club is, the history, and the Champions League as well. It’s a big moment. I’m finally here. I’m very happy and can’t wait to start.
“The most important part of why I came here is the project and how the manager sees I can develop under him. Where he has come from and seeing the amount of talent he has developed to become great players is a big sign of why I wanted to work under him.
“I’m a very direct winger. Strong, good at taking players on and creating chances. There’s a lot of flair in my game, I like to entertain the fans as well. It’s putting memories in the heads of the fans that they have going back home. Fans are really going to enjoy what I bring to the team. That’s what football is about.
“Using my god-given talent to have an impact on where I come from and change the lives of people in my family as well. It takes a lot of hard work and 24/7 focus to play like this.”
Mohammed Kudus added that he is all about helping his Tottenham teammates: “Every game requires a lot of quality and focus, so I’m just here using my individual ability to help the team as far as we can. I’m very team-oriented, so my personal goals lies around helping the team get as many points as we can.”
Kudus to begin pre-season work with Spurs under Thomas Frank
With Kudus now in north London, it should not take long for the Ghana international to begin work with Thomas Frank and the rest of the Tottenham players during pre-season, having already reported for West Ham’s pre-season training before his move to north London.
However, it remains to be seen whether Mohammed Kudus will feature from the start in Tottenham’s friendly against Reading on 19 July.
If he does not, then he could well be introduced from the bench, giving Spurs supporters their first chance to see the former West Ham man in action in Lilywhite.
