Tottenham fans are calling for a move to sign a Premier League left-back, following the club’s decision not to pursue Kyle Walker-Peters despite his availability on a free transfer.
Tottenham Hotspur are in danger of registering just 21 players in next season’s UEFA Champions League squad, as they are short of club-trained stars.
Brandon Austin is the only player in the Spurs squad who fits that quota ahead of the upcoming season, and with Spurs needing three more club-trained players, they are in a very uncomfortable position.
Club-trained players are players who have spent at least three seasons at a club between the ages of 15 and 21, and with Spurs short of such stars, we have since identified at least ten players Tottenham can sign to fill their club-trained quota.
Tottenham fans urge signing of Dennis Cirkin after Kyle Walker-Peters news
Kyle Walker-Peters, 28, and now a free agent, is one of such players that Tottenham could sign without paying a transfer fee and who meets the criteria of being club-trained.
However, reports from yesterday revealed that Spurs are not pushing ahead with a deal for the out-of-contract former Southampton man.
Tottenham fans who have caught wind of this latest revelation have now been quick to suggest another option for Spurs this summer, a player who can both improve the club’s UEFA Champions League registration situation and provide genuine depth to the squad – Dennis Cirkin.
One fan said: “Seems like it is either Cirkin or, worst case scenario, we have to go into the UCL with a couple less players registered.”
Another stated: “Rather have Cirkin who is a natural LB and LCB.” A different supporter commented: “Cirkin please.” One added: “We will sign Cirkin.”
Another said of the Walker-Peters update: “Correct decision. Either you are good enough or you are not, and he is not, irrespective of club-trained quotas.” Still speaking on the Walker-Peters situation: “Good. We do not need another right-footed left-back. Bring in somebody who can actually be of use there.”

Why Dennis Cirkin is a smart option for Spurs
Of course, Cirkin would be the ideal option for Spurs, as the full-back is still very young, can develop, and even push the club’s starting full-backs for a place in the first team, instead of just being another backup option.
However, with Cirkin currently contracted to Sunderland, who only just made a return to the Premier League, Tottenham would need to pay a fee to sign the full-back this summer.
Cirkin has certainly amassed great experience since departing Spurs in 2021, having come through Tottenham’s academy. He has since gone on to make 116 appearances across all competitions so far for the Premier League newcomers.
Spurs have been linked with a move for Cirkin as well this summer, and it has also been reported that Tottenham are lining up a formal offer for the versatile left-back, who can also play as a central defender, an offer that could see Sunderland make considerable profit from.
