Massively multiplayer online game Star Trek Online is now offering up its “Timeless Legacy” starship bundle on both Xbox and PlayStation, following its release on PC back in July. The means console captains now have the chance to use real-world money to purchase three T6 ships from different eras of Star Trek itself. Better still, two of the three ships offered as part of the bundle honor classic Star Trek games — 1999’s Star Trek: Starfleet Command, and 2006’s Star Trek: Legacy.
Here is the launch video all about the bundle…
Just like on PC, the bundle comes with the following ships and bonus items:
- Okinawa Pilot Raider [T6]: As modelled from Star Trek: Starfleet Command.
- Two variants: TMP-inspired “Proxima II” and STO-inspired “Pollux”.
- Proxima Miracle Worker Science Dreadnought [T6]: As modelled from Star Trek: Legacy.
- Three variants: TOS-inspired “Ventura” and STO-inspired “Alameda”.
- Warden Multi-Mission Temporal Cruiser [T6]: Originally from Star Trek Online’s 2016 expansion “Agents of Yesterday”.
- Two variants: Remastered TOS-inspired “Ranger” and TMP-inspired “Ranger II”.
- Bundle Exclusives:
- The Star Trek: The Motion Picture 2271 EV Suit item and costume, complete with Arm Scanner Sweep Power.
- The Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan 2285 Cadet Uniform.
- Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan Ceti Alpha V Eel Universal Kit Module, which spawns a Ceti Alpha Eel in combat.
Bonus items as part of Star Trek Online’s “Timeless Legacy” bundle
If the phrase “Warden Multi-Mission Temporal Cruiser” seems familiar, that’s because DECA and Arc Games recently patched that ship’s Hellbore Light Starship Trait over on PC to bring it in line with expected performance. Expect a similar patch to do the same over on Xbox and PlayStation.
“Timeless Legacy” starships bundle cost
If you like what you see, a 25% off sale between today and 18 September means that players can purchase the bundle for 9,735 Zen, one of Star Trek Online‘s in-game currencies. After the sale, the bundle will go back to its regular price of 12,500 Zen. As Zen can only be purchased in bundles (in this case, 11,000 Zen on sale, or the 11,000 Zen pack alongside additional 1,000 and 500 Zen packs at regular price), that translates to up the following in real-world currencies:
- $99.99 USD on sale, $114.97 USD regular price
- $133.49 CAD on sale, $153.97 CAD regular price
- £79.99 GBP on sale, £91.97 GBP regular price
- $150.95 AUD on sale, $173.45 AUD regular price
It should also be noted that the starships above can each be purchased separately. During the sale period they’re 2,400 Zen each, and at regular price they’re 3,000 Zen. Individual ship pricing in real-world currencies is as follows:
- $24.98 USD on sale, $29.98 regular price
- $33.98 CAD on sale, $40.48 CAD regular price
- £19.98 GBP on sale, £23.98 GBP regular price
- $37.50 AUD on sale, $44.90 AUD regular price
For those playing on PC, Steam pricing for Zen bundles is comparable to USD equivalents.
Do I need to buy these new ships, or any others?
Honestly? No. Star Trek Online is a free-to-play game that will let you create characters and play through various versions of Starfleet, alongside Klingon, Romulan, and Dominion storylines. In-game purchases like this are entirely optional. If you’re new to the game, it’s best to try things out before you spend your hard-earned. Along the way, you’ll even earn new ships as part of progression, including the likes of hero ship classes like the Defiant-, Intrepid-, and even the Galaxy-class.
If you’re enjoying your time with the game, or want to level up to take on more difficult later-game (or endgame) challenges, most higher-powered T6 ships are locked behind real-world purchases. It’s here that you’ll need to weigh your financial position with your desire to purchase a ship or a ship bundle.
This is the Federation Elite Starter Pack. As Riker would say, it’s got a “tough little ship”
Even then, there may be better options than a large ship bundle such as the one offered today — the Federation Elite Starter Pack, priced at $19.99 USD, comes with a T6 Reliant-class starship that levels up with your own progression. The T6 Reliant in question is an excellent ship that will take you places, and without needing to spend upwards of a hundred dollars. It’s cheaper than most individual ship bundles too, and comes with additional perks like a Borgified bridge officer. Of course, there’s no shame in spending, especially if you’re enjoying your time with Star Trek Online. With more than 200 hours of gameplay under my belt, I made the decision to buy the Constitution III-class cause I adore the U.S.S. Titan-A. I have absolutely zero regrets.
Star Trek Online is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, and PS4, also playable on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5 through backwards compatibility.
