Report: Microsoft Pushes Candy Crush Developers to Use AI Daily

When your boss asks you if your work could be done by AI, you should say no, although it doesn’t always help, as developers from King, the creator of Candy Crush, know very well. After the devastating layoffs in July issued by its parent Microsoft, the team was left with robots, and the tech giant wants it to use them every day.

According to Mobilegamer.biz, Microsoft made AI mandatory “a while ago,” but if the goal last year was 70% or 80% of daily usage, this year, it was to get up to 100% “so that every artist, designer, developer, even managers have to use it on a daily basis,” shared one source.

When your real friends are getting fired, I guess AI is the only one you can turn to. However, this forceful introduction doesn’t seem to work, according to another source: “AI adoption is very low apart from ChatGPT,” they said. “King leadership is in general quite AI sceptic.”

King employees shouldn’t drop their guard yet: one manager claimed that “a reduction was very much needed” because the workforce is “bloated,” so we might hear about more layoffs there soon.

“If I were [Microsoft] I would also ask King to make sure they have a right-sized workforce…there will definitely be more layoffs,” the source said.
