IndyCar and iRacing have signed a multi-year licensing agreement to produce standalone IndyCar video games for PC and console.
Confirmed:
- The IndyCar title will be released for PlayStation, Xbox and Steam
- It will be the first dedicated IndyCar game in more than two decades
Context:
IndyCar reunited with iRacing in 2024 after a brief period of exclusivity with Motorsport Games, a collaboration that was supposed to spawn the series’ first standalone video game since 2004 before the video game publisher hit financial difficulties.
The expansion of IndyCar’s licensing deal with iRacing to include a standalone game gives the series a chance to revitalise its efforts to have an official title. Rivals such as Formula One and Nascar already offer fans the experience of getting behind the wheel through their licensed games, but IndyCar has lagged behind in this area.
Comment:
“The most competitive and challenging racing on the planet deserves a dedicated and widely available gaming experience,” said J Douglas Boles, president of IndyCar.
“iRacing Studios is the ideal partner for us, trusted and known to our core fans and ready to share our sport with a wider and highly engaged audience.”
Coming next:
The first standalone title as part of this collaboration will be released in the second half of 2026. A separate extension has also been agreed which continues IndyCar’s presence in the official iRacing game.
