Tottenham have been dealt a major setback in their pursuit of Savinho, with Manchester City making their stance on the Brazilian winger crystal clear as the transfer window nears its end.
Tottenham Hotspur have been strongly linked with a move for Manchester City winger Savinho in recent weeks, as the club looks to reinforce their attack following the departure of Heung-min Son earlier this summer.
Savinho was believed to be keen on a switch to Tottenham, and there was growing optimism around Spurs that a deal could be possible.
Spurs even lodged a formal bid for Savinho, thought to be in the region of £45 million, yet their offer was immediately rejected by City, who showed little willingness to negotiate at that price.
Manchester City shut down Tottenham move for Savinho
It had been widely suggested that Pep Guardiola’s side might consider selling Savinho if a bid close to €70 million (£59 million) arrived, but Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Tottenham’s hopes of landing the winger have been completely ruled out this summer.
The Italian journalist, writing on X, revealed that Manchester City have made their position abundantly clear to Spurs, stressing that Savinho is not for sale under any circumstances at this stage of the window.
According to Romano, City see Savinho as a key figure for both the present and the future, and despite Tottenham’s interest, they are unwilling to cash in, not even for an offer exceeding €70 million (£59 million).
He posted: “Manchester City have informed Tottenham today that they are not changing their position on Savinho. #MCFC have no intention to let him go, not even for fee over €70m — seen as key player for the season and for future. This also blocks any chance of Rodrygo to Man City.”

Spurs frustration grows as window ticks down
Tottenham now have less than five days remaining to address the glaring issues within their squad, with no recognised attacking midfielder signed and no new winger added, despite clear intent to strengthen those areas.
The transfer window so far has tested the patience of the Spurs supporters, and this latest blow will feel particularly damaging, leaving even the most optimistic fans wondering where the attacking spark will come from.
Attention has now reportedly shifted to RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, but any move will be complicated as Chelsea is also in the hunt, setting up another fierce battle in the market that Tottenham can ill afford to lose.
