Nico Paz has now directly addressed the speculation linking him with a big-money move to Tottenham Hotspur, amidst reports that a huge bid from the North London club was sent back.
Since Tottenham failed with a move for Eberechi Eze, it has been reported that Nico Paz has now shot to the top of Spurs’ wishlist.
In fact, on Sunday night, it emerged that Tottenham had a €70m (£60.7m) offer rejected by Como for Paz.
That update came from Fabrizio Romano, who explained that the midfielder wants to stay at Como with a view to returning to Real Madrid in the future, as Los Blancos have a buy-back clause on the youngster.
Nico Paz addresses speculation over his future after Tottenham bid
The 20-year-old showed his quality against Lazio on Sunday, registering a sublime goal and an assist as Como emerged 2-0 winners.
Following the game, when asked about Tottenham’s interest in his player, Como boss Cesc Fabrigas insisted that he is very relaxed about Paz’s future, insisting that the 20-year-old is happy at the club.
The youngster has now handed Tottenham Hotspur a blow by revealing that he is fully focused on Como and wants to take the club to the next level.
When asked about the speculation over his future, Paz told Provincia di Como: “The transfer market? I didn’t listen to anything. I stayed focused on preparing for the season. Let’s hope everything goes well and that we can reach the highest possible level.”
Real Madrid played a big role in stopping Paz from joining Spurs
Xabi Alonso’s men have a big say in the attacking midfielder’s future, as they have the right to match any offer, a 50 per cent sell-on clause, and a buy-back clause for next summer worth just £10m.
According to reports, Real Madrid played a big role in Como rejecting Tottenham’s offer for Paz over the weekend.
The La Liga giants allegedly made it clear to the Serie A club that they are willing to match any bid that Spurs make and are willing to compensate them in the future for rejecting the North London club’s offers.
