Tottenham prepare Morgan Rogers transfer bid to test Aston Villa’s resolve

Tottenham are preparing to test Aston Villa’s stance on Morgan Rogers, with a firm bid expected to land soon as the club looks to finally strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes.

The summer transfer window has been anything but straightforward for Tottenham Hotspur, who remain threadbare in the attacking area of their squad.

With less than a week left before the summer window slams shut on 1 September, Tottenham are yet to complete the signing of a creative number ten, leaving them without a natural option in the role after injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison.

Moves for high-profile targets have fallen through. A push for Eberechi Eze ended with Arsenal swooping in to secure the Crystal Palace midfielder, while a €70m (£60m) offer for Nico Paz was turned down by Como, with the talented Spaniard not showing any appetite for a move to N17.

Tottenham set sights on Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now provided an update on Tottenham’s chase for a new attacking midfielder this summer.

According to his report, Spurs are understood to have turned their focus to Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, who caught the eye last season after contributing eight goals and eleven assists in the Premier League.

Tottenham are believed to be preparing a concrete offer to test Aston Villa’s resolve to keep their player, with some outlets dubbing Rogers as Spurs’ dream target this summer.

His tweet on X reads: “Tottenham are ready to test Aston Villa’s resolve to keep hold of Morgan Rogers with a firm offer expected soon.”

Spurs may face record transfer outlay for Rogers

This is not the first time Morgan Rogers has been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer, with previous reports stating that if Spurs are to sign Rogers, they would need to break transfer record to make it happen.

The North London side have not been afraid to spend in recent windows, but the scale of this potential deal will hinge on Villa’s stance.

Aston Villa are not actively looking to sell Rogers this summer, although with Profitability and Sustainability Rules in play, there is a belief that an offer of the right size could tempt the club into considering a sale.

Reports have also claimed that Spurs have already made initial contact for Rogers through intermediaries, which suggests there may be a willingness to explore the situation further.
