Every year, the Game Awards honor the crème de la crème of the video game world, with an eagerly-awaited prize: the Game of the Year, the famous GOTY awaited by gamers everywhere. And for this year’s edition, we already know the dates!
The Game Awards is THE meeting place for gamers the world over, as they wait to find out who will be voted best game of the year… Because it’s THE award that everyone is waiting for, the Holy Grail of video games: the GOTY(Game of the Year). Held every year in December, this ceremony rewards the best in video games in a wide range of categories, from the best direction to the best eSport team and the most striking game.

And for its 2025 edition, we now know the date! The event will take place on December 11 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles (but will be broadcast on Twitch and YouTube). As for the nominees, we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out who can claim the title of best games of the year… But there’s no doubt that the biggest games will be represented in one way or another, and in more than one category.
Without getting too far ahead of ourselves, we can perhaps put forward the names of a few games whose presence at the Game Awards we’re fairly certain of (or at least hope so), such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Assassin’s Creed Shadows or a Nintendo game, such as Donkey Kong Bananza or Mario Kart World (in the Best Multiplayer Game category). While we await the list of nominees, let’s take a look back at all these games. Grab your joysticks!
