After a leak outed the game’s setting, various insiders have claimed the next Forza Horizon will debut at the Tokyo Game Show.
Xbox hasn’t officially announced a sequel to Forza Horizon 5 but, as revealed by Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer earlier this year, ‘the next Forza’ is slated for 2026.
While this could relate to a new Forza Motorsport, the last game in that series came out in 2023 and was not a hit, while Forza Horizon 5 launched in 2021 and was massive. As such, it’s expected that a new Forza Horizon is in the one due next year.
If you weren’t already convinced, multiple insiders have now claimed Forza Horizon 6 is set to be announced next month – at an event which appears to corroborate leaks around the game’s setting.
According to ‘widely circulated’ documents seen by Windows Central, Forza Horizon 6 will be announced during the Tokyo Game Show which runs from September 27 to 28.
This has since been corroborated by reliable insider NateTheHate and Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, who have presumably seen the same documents.
Last week, a deleted Instagram post showing a member of the Forza Horizon team taking photos of Japanese cars, strongly suggested the next entry would be set in Japan. Now, with rumours of a reveal at the Tokyo Game Show, everything seems to be lining up.

Accurate — barring any late pivots.Intent is to announce Forza Horizon 6 at this year’s Tokyo Game Show — which takes place in late September. The game’s setting is Japan — making TGS an apt venue for reveal. Before you ask: No. I have not heard of a Switch 2 version. https://t.co/rsvyjqt9MA

‘The game’s setting is Japan – making Tokyo Game Show an apt venue for reveal,’ NateTheHate posted on X. ‘Before you ask: No I have not heard of a Switch 2 version.’
After the sales success of Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5, the big question is whether Forza Horizon 6 will launch simultaneously on Sony’s console alongside Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Microsoft has opted for multi-platform launches with titles like Gears Of War: Reloaded, but other Xbox-published games like Indiana Jones And The Great Circle have seen other versions arrive a few months later.
In these instance though it’s less likely to be a marketing decision and more a question of whether Forza Horizon 6 was made with a PlayStation 5 version in mind and/or the team has the capacity to quickly pivot to one. For that reason it’s likely to be a year or so until Switch 2 versions of Xbox games start appearing day one.
If Forza Horizon 6 does launch in 2026, next year looks set to be massive for developer Playground Games, who are also set to release a reboot of Fable in the same timeframe.
As promised by Phil Spencer, Microsoft is due to release Gears Of War: E-Day, Fable, and the ‘next Forza’ in 2026 to mark the 25th anniversary of Xbox.
He also teased ‘the return of a classic that’s been with us from the very beginning’, which likely refers to a rumoured remaster of 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved.
