- Meet the Students of Kousei Academy in New Character Video Series for Varlet
Press release
FURYU Corporation, an esteemed Japanese video game and entertainment company, today began a daily series of character-focused English video reveals for Varlet, an all-new high school RPG, running through launch on Aug. 27 for PC (via Steam and the Epic Game Store), PlayStation®5, and the Nintendo Switch™ system. The first pair of short music videos introduce Aruka Arasaki, a second-year member of the idol group Merveilleux who seeks recognition for her work as an idol and not just her beauty, and Taki Sukina, a third-year student envied by his peers for his top marks but tormented by his strict household and yearn to escape his oppressive environment.

At the core of Varlet’s experience is its dynamic Triad Stats system, which shapes character progression based on player choices. These six distinct attributes are divided between Light and Dark Triad traits; light Triad stats emphasize morality, sympathy, and altruism, while Dark Triad stats lean into Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and narcissism. Throughout their days at school players will encounter a variety of situations where they will need to make a decision on how to respond or proceed, with each decision point contributing towards the protagonist’s own Triad. This can potentially provide the protagonist with additional options in combat, with the Dark Triad unlocking powerful new skills and the Light Triad providing potent buffs to support allies, or unlock special new choices normally unavailable during the main scenario.
