A drunk man hurled a racist insult at a police officer as she tried to restrain him in a hospital A&E department.
Tony Giles became abusive at the William Harvey in Ashford after officers refused to let him use the toilet while he was being detained for other matters.

The 50-year-old – who has a history of racist offences – turned aggressive and, while being pinned down, called one officer a “foreign ****”.
Giles, of Arlington, Ashford, admitted racially aggravated harassment when he appeared before Folkestone magistrates.
The court heard he had been arrested for unrelated matters when he was taken to the William Harvey on February 22, seeking treatment for various health conditions.
Neil Sweeney, prosecuting, said: “As he was under arrest and PC Bowler was restraining his legs, he called her a foreign ****”.”
In a victim impact statement, the officer said she was offended by the remark and that it was disrespectful to make such a comment in a hospital.
The court was told Giles had previous convictions for drugs and criminal damage in October 2022, and in April that year had received a suspended sentence for two racially aggravated offences. That punishment has since expired.

Stuart Lewis, defending, told the bench: “His issue was drink this time, not drugs.
“He had drug issues in the past, but now that’s over. He was seeking medical assistance as he has a number of health issues and he has breathing, liver and kidney issues.
“He is often taken to hospital, and he wanted to use the toilet, but they refused to let him out. He urinated on himself, and they (the police) were holding him down.
“He was resisting and he did say ‘foreign ****’ and he regrets it. He had been drinking.
Giles, who claims PIP and Universal Credit, was fined £120.
