The comment about the trailer making someone want to pre-order Battlefield 6 received more likes than the trailer itself.
Do you remember when the Call of Duty series was all about gritty realism, historical battles, or modern-day conflicts tied in one way or another to real life? Judging by the community’s reaction to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s recent gameplay reveal trailer, thousands of gamers still do, with the video getting flooded with dislikes over on YouTube.
As of this writing, the trailer holds only about a 17% like-to-dislike ratio, with 39,000 likes compared to 194,000 dislikes – just barely faring better in terms of the ratio than Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s infamous reveal trailer, the most disliked in the series’ history.
The comments section paints a similar picture, with one struggling to find even a single positive remark. Almost every reaction skews negative, as players compete in snarkiness while lambasting both the trailer and the franchise as a whole. Currently, the top-rated comment, with 78,000 likes – twice as many as the trailer itself – claims the video made them want to pre-order Battlefield 6, a sentiment echoed by many others.
Sadly, much like how it’s nearly impossible to stumble upon any praise in the comment section, it’s just as difficult to find a comment that would go into detail about why exactly the trailer received such an overwhelmingly negative reaction.
If you were to summarize it, though, the criticism can effectively be boiled down to the same complaints Call of Duty has faced for years: the series drifting too far from its roots and trying to chase Fortnite’s appeal by stuffing each release with quirky weapon and player skins, over-the-top worlds and plots, and the overall “LoL RaNdOm” vibe reminiscent of 2012-13 internet humor, while putting realism on the backburner. What once aimed to portray the grim realities and horrors of war has now shifted to robots, giants, and “reality-shattering” maps – an arguably interesting combination, but clearly not the one players were hoping for.

Another point of contention was Activision’s approach to monetization, with many commenters slamming the trailer specifically for promoting various packs, collections, editions, and pre-order bonuses toward the end. Here are some of the top-liked comments to give you a sense of the general reaction to the trailer:
Well, at least the soundtrack was great.
And what are your thoughts on the trailer? Do you see Call of Duty’s departure from its roots as a positive or negative move? Overall, are you looking forward to playing BO7? Battlefield 6? Both? Neither? Let us know in the comments!
