The next main series Pokémon game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, is just around the corner, and fans are very excited to see what new Pokémon the game has in store for players.

While no entirely new Pokémon have been shown off, the game will be bringing back a fan favorite feature in Mega Evolution, which sees existing Pokémon getting temporary forms that push their power to the limit.

Earlier this year, The Pokémon Company announced the first new Mega Pokémon in almost a decade, Mega Dragonite, and it’s just revealed another.

In a spooky CG-animated trailer, The Pokémon Company revealed the next Mega Pokémon set to be released in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and it’s a bit of a strange one: Mega Victreebell. Mega Victreebell sees the Grass and Poison-type Pokémon swell up to a massive size, becoming much rounder, much more dangerous, and frankly, much goofier.

Little else is known about the new Mega Pokémon at this stage, and it’s currently unknown how many other unrevealed Mega Pokémon are in the game — if any. We’d expect at least a few more to be announced before the game is released in October, but it’s anyone’s guess if or when that happens.

The reveal comes shortly after the announcement that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will feature a four-player real-time competitive battle mode, with players able to compete against friends or random players both in-person and online. The mode uses a free-for-all scoring system, where the goal is to knock out as many Pokémon as possible, and whoever scores the most knockouts wins the match.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be released on October 16, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
