Studio ZA/UM shared a look at its new project, Zero Parades, with an official announcement trailer presented at the Opening Night Live showcase at Gamescom.
Ahead of the announcement, Zero Parades, previously codenamed C4, was anticipated as a large-scale RPG featuring a “mind-warping story of espionage and team-building in an original yet achingly familiar setting,” and the announcement proved those expectations right.
The trailer introduced the main character, the story’s exposition, and shared a glimpse of some of the locations, also setting up the dark mood of the game. According to Zero Parades’ Steam page, it’s a story-rich espionage RPG, in which you play as an operant Hershel Wilk, who returns to a mysterious assignment after five years in the abyss.
Zero Parades centers around the struggle for cultural and ideological power in a detailed urban setting, which is described as a character itself, “with its own secrets, traumas, and miracles.” Many have noted that the game’s visual style strongly echoes the studio’s acclaimed title Disco Elysium.
Before, the studio dropped the game’s teaser trailer:
