Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer pursuit of Eberechi Eze has taken a remarkable twist this evening.
Spurs fans have been put through the wringer in recent days with Eze’s prologned move to North London having taken plenty of twists and turns.
Talks between Palace and Tottenham over a deal for Eze continued earlier on Wednesday with the England international keen to make the switch.
Club insider Paul O’Keefe claimed on Tuesday that a verbal agreement had been reached for Eze’s move to the Europa League champions.
Tottenham are dragging their heels with Eze deal
In a remarkable twist, it is now being reported by the Daily Mail that Tottenham are considering offering Richarlison to Palace as part of a deal to sign Eze.
Spurs are exploring a part exchange consisting of a cash figure plus Richarlison in order to finally get a deal over the line for Eze who is valued at around £60million.
If Richarlison were to head to Selhurst Park, Thomas Frank would want Tottenham to move for Yoane Wissa, who he worked closely with at Brentford.
Wissa is currently involved in his own transfer saga, with the 28-year-old desperate to leave the Bees for Newcastle United, who made a new offer of £35m plus £5m on Wednesday which is set to be rejected.
The report claims that Brentford are dragging their heels over a deal with Newcastle since they would prefer to sell Wissa to be reunited with Frank.
Tottenham need to get their act together
This is turning into an embarrassing transfer saga for Tottenham, and they need to be careful of further mockery in the wake of Morgan Gibbs White’s failed switch to N17.
Tottenham need to be wary of an Arsenal hijack for Eze with their bitter rivals now back in the transfer market following Kai Havertz’s knee injury.
The excitement of a deal for Eze is being sucked out of Tottenham fans, who are sick and tired of these continuing twists and turns.
With Manchester City next up in the Premier League on Saturday, Daniel Levy, Johan Lange and co need to be ruthless and get this deal wrapped up for once and for all.
Richarlison scored twice in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Burnley on Saturday in an impressive display on the back of his industrious shift against PSG in the UEFA Super Cup.
