It’s an understatement to say that September 2025 is one of the best releases months of the year, so far. The lineup contains a perfect storm of some of the biggest sequels, highly anticipated games, and new IPs that are coming out this month as well as a couple of unexpected surprises, in my opinion.
New or returning titles for every type of gamer can be found in September’s schedule, from story-rich adventures and immersive RPGs to high-octane shooters and silly party games.Â
Games that have been highly anticipated or generating hype in the recent months, such as Borderlands 4, Silent Hill f, and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles have been dominating the news cycle, but this month’s is full of less-hyped games, such as Cronos: The New Dawn and Hotel Barcelona, which are also filled with creativity and promise to be amazing games.
Open-world fans have a lot to be hyped about in this month’s lineup, with Star Wars Outlaws being one of the most exciting new games to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, the new DLC for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, titled The Order of Giants is also out as well as Frostpunk 2 for fans of all-things-strategy and Trails in the Sky, which are games for fans of cosily hugging the screen.Â
With a total of 32 titles releasing across all platforms, this month’s release schedule is one of the most varied in recent years. There is something for everyone in September, whether it’s competitive multiplayer, sprawling open-world adventures, quick-to-play party games, or classic remasters and remakes.Â
