All announcements from the closing ceremony of the 2025 Pokémon World Championships

The Pokémon World Championships have come to an end; the 2025 edition brought us several surprises and thrills, not only at the players’ tables, but also throughout the halls of the Anaheim Convention Center. But everything that has a beginning has an end, and after the trophy presentation for the video game category winners, and even a couple of musical numbers, we were joined by The Pokémon Company President Tsunekazu Ishihara to make a series of Pokémon-related announcements. Here are all the announcements.

Pokémon GO reveals the arrival of Gigantamax Eternatus

The reports are true, and Gigantamax Eternatus has landed at the Anaheim Convention Center as the first step leading up to Pokémon Go Fest Max Finale on August 23 and 24.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is filled with Mega Evolutions

Almost a year after Pocket’s release date was announced, we now have a glimpse of what’s coming in the new season this fall. Mega Evolutions will be a key part of what’s coming. The trailer showed us Mega Altaria ex, Mega Gyarados ex, and Mega Laziken ex as the featured cards in this upcoming set.

Pokémon Unite presents its upcoming Pokémon

Empoleon, Dhelmise, and Vaporeon are the Pokémon that will arrive as part of the new Unite updates, with Empoleon arriving on September 19. In addition, Groudon will take the stage starting September 4.

Pokémon Trading Card Game unveils more Megas

With Mega Evolutions just around the corner, new cards featuring Mega Charizard X ex, Oricorio ex, as well as full art cards of Mega Charizard X Ex, Mega Gardevoir ex, and Mega Lucario ex, and the new Mega Dragonite ex were revealed.

Pokémon Legends Z-A introduces a new game mode

A new trailer showed what’s coming in Pokémon Legends Z-A. It showcased multiplayer mechanics, supporting up to 4 players as part of the game’s Battle Zone, where players compete to see who can eliminate the most Pokémon within a 3-minute time limit.

Pokémon Champions is the future of the Pokémon World Championships

Pokémon Champions is shaping up to be the future of the Pokémon World Championships, as it will be the game used in the new competitive cycle for the next tournament. In addition to this, it was revealed that Mega Evolutions will be an important part of the game’s mechanics. For now, there is still no release date.
