Thomas Frank drops transfer hint as Tottenham weigh up late summer moves

Thomas Frank has hinted at further summer business after the UEFA Super Cup defeat, with Tottenham Hotspur looking to bolster their squad even further before the transfer window closes.

In his most recent outing against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup final, Thomas Frank gave Tottenham Hotspur fans a clear glimpse of what life under his management could entail.

In the clash, the Dane was unafraid to switch things up tactically, opting for a back three that allowed his full-backs to operate as wing-backs, with Pape Matar Sarr and Mohammed Kudus deployed as advanced midfielders.

Such tactical variations are nothing new for Frank, who has built a reputation for tailoring his setups to the strengths of his squad.

Nevertheless, the match also highlighted the need for more players and quality depth, as Frank’s substitutions on the night failed to maintain the level of the initial eleven.

Spurs have been heavily linked with several attacking players this summer, and in the past few days, those links have gone into overdrive, with Frank’s squad looking thin in advanced areas.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Frank has hinted that Tottenham could strengthen their squad even further, stating the club is working hard in that regard.

He said: “We would like to strengthen the squad. No doubt about that. We do work very hard to see if we can do that.

“In general, I am very happy with the squad but in any transfer window we try to see if we can make the squad stronger before the window closes.”

Tottenham’s attacking options under the spotlight

Injuries to James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski mean Tottenham currently lack recognised number tens going into the new campaign.

Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace has once again been mentioned as a Tottenham target, with the club eager to strengthen their creative options in midfield.

Spurs are also looking for more depth in the wide areas, with Manchester City winger Savinho having also emerged as a potential addition for the Lilywhites.

With the clock ticking down to deadline day, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will finalise any of these deals.
