I encourage you to use your Xbox Game Pass subscription to play a Chrono Trigger love letter RPG, which has an 87 score on Metacritic, without any extra fees. The JRPG developed by Square Enix is one of the most meaningful games of all time. It’s also one of the best Final Fantasy-like games ever made, despite not being directly linked to the franchise.
The title established a new standard for video games with its well-written story that traverses time, as well as its remarkable gameplay possibilities led by its memorable characters. While Chrono Trigger isn’t in the catalog, there are great RPGs on Xbox Game Pass, and one of the best ones there is a tribute to the legendary title.
Sea Of Stars Is Free On Xbox Game Pass
The RPG Was A Day-One Release

Via your Xbox Game Pass subscription, you can play Sea of Stars without extra costs. The indie RPG developed by Sabotage Studios can be played on consoles, PC, and cloud gaming. The title is compatible with current and past-gen consoles, meaning you can play it on Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One.
Xbox Game Pass added Sea of Stars to the catalog as a day-one release in 2023, and it has been available for members since its launch. The indie title isn’t expected to leave Game Pass anytime soon, but given how unpredictable the removals from the catalog can be, I’d recommend playing it as soon as you can – luckily, you can beat this Game Pass RPG in a weekend.
Why You Should Play Sea Of Stars On Xbox Game Pass
The Indie RPG Has An 87 Metascore On Metacritic

Sea of Stars is one of the best RPGs of the past few years. The game pays tribute to classic turn-based JRPGs of the pixel-art era and is openly inspired by Chrono Trigger. Even though its combat is turn-based, it has real-time elements applied to it, like the possibility of extending an attack’s duration by using inputs at the correct moment.
Despite being an indie title, it doesn’t fall short of other Square Enix RPGs on Xbox Game Pass, like those from the Octopath Traveler series. In fact, Sea of Stars is extremely well evaluated, with an impressive 87 Metascore and an 8.0 user score on Metacritic.
If you’re a fan of JRPGs, I assure you that you won’t regret testing Sea of Stars, especially as part of your subscription fee. This became one of my favorite games in the RPG genre as soon as I played it on Xbox Game Pass, and you should consider using the same method to test it out.
