The son of a retiring dry cleaner has lodged plans turn their business into a micro pub.
Danson Dry Cleaners is part of a shopping parade which includes convenience stores, vets, a betting shop, a barbers and food sites such as a chicken shop, a fish and chip bar, and a Chinese takeaway.

And soon, the stretch of businesses in Sherwood Park Avenue, Sidcup, would welcome a new pub.
Last month, the dry cleaners applied to Bexley Council to change its current use to that of a micro pub, prompted by the upcoming retirement of Danson’s owner in September.
Planning documents state: “The applicant, her son, will take over the premises and establish a new business that aligns with his professional experience in hospitality.
“This transition ensures continuity of local enterprise while introducing a fresh, viable use that complements the parade.”
The proposal adds how the project “aims to enhance its contribution to the local economy and community, while remaining respectful of the site’s physical character and surrounding context”.

As well as making minor alterations to the interior of the commercial unit, which includes the construction of a bar, the development would replace a shed at the rear of the property with a new shelter that will serve as a designated smoking area.
According to the proposed layout plans of the new pub, the bar will have enough space to seat five customers and there will be tables and chairs for 32 more customers on the floor.
These plans also suggest the new drinking establishment will be called “The Dog House”.
Internal walls and glazing will also be upgraded to meet noise attenuation standards, and background music will be played at a low level to “preserve neighbouring amenity”.
The proposed opening hours are from midday to 10.30pm every day.
The planning application is currently being reviewed by Bexley Council’s planning department, which has set a deadline of September 11 by which it needs to have issued its decision.
