B

KICK-OFF

Former Bayern man Mathys Tel was just presented with some flowers by the German club’s sporting director.

Tel is now sitting with them on the bench as Bayern kick off. We are underway in the Munich sunshine!

Here come the players

The players enter the Allianz Arena to a wall of noise.

This is an incredible atmosphere for a friendly.

A full house too. Let’s hope the fans are well entertained over the next 90 minutes…

Romero takes the armband

With Son gone, Cristian Romero has taken over as Tottenham captain — and his first big task in the role? Marking Harry Kane.

The same Harry Kane who left Spurs in search of silverware, only to watch them lift the Europa League without him.

Romero has never been one for subtlety, and you wouldn’t bet against him leaving a little reminder for his old team-mate.

The post-Son era begins

For the first time in a decade, Tottenham take to the pitch without Son Heung-min on the books.

Son’s emotional departure was confirmed by the club yesterday, bringing an end to one of the most beloved chapters in Spurs’ modern history. The South Korean forward scored 173 goals in 454 appearances, won a Golden Boot, collected a Puskas Award, captained the team, and — at long last — lifted a trophy, hoisting the Europa League in Bilbao back in May.

His farewell video, titled ‘Dear Spurs fans’, showed the same warmth and humility that defined his decade in north London. ‘You were always in the frame,’ he said, referencing his trademark celebration — and those words will stay with supporters for a long time.

From the first official goal at the new stadium to tears at his press conference in Seoul, Son always wore his heart on his sleeve. And now, after ten years of magic, he begins a new adventure in Los Angeles.

Back here in Munich, Thomas Frank’s side are starting theirs too. With Kudus and Palhinha in the XI, this is not just another friendly. It’s a symbolic night.

The post-Son era starts now.

Maddison blow casts long shadow

One man missing tonight is James Maddison.

The England midfielder suffered an ACL injury against Newcastle and could miss the entire season.

It’s a cruel blow for both player and club – and leaves a big creative void in Spurs’ midfield.

Judging by the Spurs team sheet, it will either be Bentancur in the No 10 position, or Frank’s men will play a more compact 4-3-3, focussing on attacking from out wide.

Bayern ‘up for it’, says Kompany

‘We’re up for it,’ said Vincent Kompany ahead of tonight’s clash.

‘We don’t have much time, but we want to be physically ready for the first games.’

Sounds like we should be expecting plenty of urgency from the home team.

Kompany has just over a week left to prepare for Bayern’s first competitive match – the German Super Cup against Stuttgart.

So don’t expect a gentle friendly here. The intensity will be up, especially in front of a packed home crowd at the Allianz.

Tottenham eyeing pre-season TREBLE of trophies

Harry Kane left Tottenham to win trophies – and finally got his hands on the Bundesliga title with Bayern, while Spurs won the Europa League without him.

Tonight, his old club could move one step closer to a pre-season treble!

Having already lifted the Herbalgy Trophy in Hong Kong by beating Arsenal, Spurs now have a shot at the Telekom Cup in Munich. Win tonight, and it’s two from two – with the UEFA Super Cup against PSG to come next week.

Alright, none of these are exactly the Champions League… but for a club that went 17 years without a trophy, they all count for something.

Diaz, Olise and Kane lead Bayern’s attack

It’s a Premier League reunion in Munich!

Luis Diaz starts just over a week after his switch from Liverpool, lining up in an attack that includes Michael Olise and Harry Kane.

That trio alone brings pace, power, trickery – and a lot of Premier League spice.

SPURS TEAM NEWS: Palhinha starts against parent club

Joao Palhinha goes straight into the Spurs starting XI – and faces Bayern just days after joining from them on loan.

Mohammed Kudus also starts for Thomas Frank’s side, but there’s no Dominic Solanke in the matchday squad. Mathys Tel – who made his Tottenham move permanent earlier this summer – is on the bench.

Tottenham XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero (c), Van de Ven, Spence; Bentancur, Palhinha, Sarr; Johnson, Richarlison, Kudus.

Subs: Kinsky, Austin, Davies, Danso, Vuskovic, Gray, Bissouma, Bergvall, Odobert, Tel.

He’s flanked by former Premier League stars Luis Diaz and Michael Olise in a strong Bayern XI. Joshua Kimmich also starts, while Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies are still absent.

Bayern XI: Neuer; Kimmich, Upamecano, Tah, Stanisic; Goretzka, Laimer; Olise, Coman, Diaz; Kane.

Subs: Ulreich, Urbig, Kim, Bischof, Guerreiro, Boey, Wanner, Kiala, Mike, Chavez, Kusi-Asare, Karl, Santos, Dalpiaz.
