If you’re still playing Genshin Impact on the PS4, you can expect to say goodbye to this game in the coming months. Indeed, terrible news has just been announced, provoking the disappointment of many gamers around the world.
While last-generation consoles benefit from many new features every year, some gamers still play on consoles such as the PS4. However, if this is your case, you’ll soon have to say goodbye to a very popular game.
We’re talking about Genshin Impact, undoubtedly one of the most popular gacha games in the world. It has to be said that many updates are made to this title, bringing various content and meeting players expectations.
But if this license thrives on all the supports on which it has been established, this will soon no longer be the case for the PS4. Indeed, MiHoYo announced the following in a lengthy press release published on the internet: “Due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size, we will be discontinuing support and updates for Genshin Impact on PS4® in future versions“.
So, in the face of this terrible news, there are three dates to remember. Firstly, Genshin Impact will be withdrawn from PlayStation Store on September 10. Secondly, all items purchasable in the Genshin Impact store and PlayStation Store will disappear on February 25, 2026. And finally, the game will no longer be available on the PS4 from April 8, 2026.
Therefore, you only have a few months left to enjoy this hugely successful game and complete your quests. However, if you’re playing the PS5 version of Genshin Impact, there’s no need to worry. Indeed, this change will not affect you, and you will still be able to play it after its removal on PS4: “Genshin Impact on PS5® will continue to operate normally and is not affected by the removal and update discontinuation on PS4®. Traveler will still be able to enjoy the latest content updates on PS5® and other supported platforms.”
Finally, MiHoYo would like to thank PS4 players, adding this message: “Thank you for your continued support and love for Genshin Impact on PS4®”. And this despite any disappointment they may feel.
