Tottenham are now racing against time to bring in a new attacking midfielder, following injury concerns for James Maddison and Heung-min Son’s confirmed departure.
Tottenham Hotspur have looked to bolster their squad this summer, with five new additions so far, as Mathys Tel, Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha, Kota Takai and Kevin Danso have all put pen to paper and signed for the club.
However, despite these signings, Tottenham still appear thin in certain areas of their squad, particularly due to injuries, with full-back and attacking midfield being the most concerning positions at present.
James Maddison, having only just recovered from his last setback in May, has now found himself sidelined once more after re-injuring the same knee during Tottenham’s recent clash against Newcastle United.

Journalist Dean Jones, writing for Flashscore, has now revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to accelerate their transfer plans this summer, having come to terms with James Maddison’s latest injury and the imminent departure of Heung-min Son.
The Korean international confirmed his exit from Tottenham last Saturday, before featuring in what appeared to be a farewell game in front of his hometown supporters in Korea on Sunday, against Newcastle United.
According to the report, Tottenham are now expected to push forward with urgency, as they aim to complete the signing of an attacking midfielder within the next week.
Spurs eye new number ten options amid Maddison and Kulusevski doubts
It is entirely understandable that Tottenham are prioritising the attacking midfield role, given that both James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are expected to spend lengthy spells on the sidelines.
In the weeks since the breakdown of the Morgan Gibbs-White deal, the club have been linked with a host of new names in that area of the pitch.
Bilal El Khannous and Enzo Millot are among the creative midfielders being considered by Tottenham this summer, as they explore options for their preferred number ten signing.
Out wide, names such as Alejandro Garnacho and Jack Grealish have also surfaced, although it remains unclear whether Spurs intend to directly replace Heung-min Son in this window.
