Road closed after injured biker spotted in road near shopping outlet

Emergency services closed a road near a shopping outlet after a biker was seen lying injured on the floor.

Police and paramedics were called to Dock Head Road near Chatham Dockside yesterday evening after the wounded man was discovered.

The incident caused delays to bus services in the area, but the road reopened at about 6.10pm.

One eyewitness said: “We pulled up to come to the Dockside as usual, and there was a guy lying in the road with his legs bent upwards as if he had fallen off a bike.

“He was screaming a lot.

“He was in his late 20s or early 30s.”

A police spokesperson confirmed it was contacted shortly before 5.30pm about a reported collision involving a moped in Dock Head Road.

“Officers attended along with highways patrols and paramedics,” they said.

“The rider was treated for injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

A joint response vehicle, an ambulance and a critical care car were spotted at the scene.
