MGM China enhances responsible gaming training for employees – GGRAsia

Macau casino concessionaire MGM China Holdings Ltd says it continues to enhance the professional skills of its frontline workers, including via responsible-gaming training efforts.

As part of these efforts, the casino firm said in an August 4 press release that it had partnered with the Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home organisation, to co-host a training course titled “Supporting Individuals Affected by Gambling Issues”.

The course is an element in the casino firm’s “MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Programme”.

MGM China said the training course “was designed to strengthen the capabilities of frontline management and responsible gaming team in identifying and assisting individuals facing gambling-related challenges, while also enhancing their professional skills in both theory and practice”.

Led by Pak Kin Pong, director of the integrated services centre of Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home, “the course focused on the behavioural traits and psychological states of individuals affected by gambling issues, as well as crisis management and referral techniques, which equipped participants with key methods to provide effective support”.

The course also incorporated highlights from a newly-published document called Public Guide to Supporting Individuals Affected by Gambling Issues, said the casino firm.

The announcement cited Michael Santos, pit manager of table games at MGM China, as saying that the course was insightful and practical, deepening participants’ understanding of gambling-disorder behaviour.

The “MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Programme”, launched in April, also includes a variety of other activities such as roadshows, pop-up interactive games, online quiz games, advanced training and courses on gambling-related knowledge.

MGM China said it would “continue to strengthen its team members’ knowledge and capabilities through innovative training and cross-sector collaboration, working hand-in-hand with the community to build a better Macau”.
