This Samsung gaming SSD deal is the answer if you’re running out of storage space on your gaming PC. For just $74.99, you can pick up a speedy PCIe 4.0 SSD with 1TB of storage, saving you a huge 29% on its MSRP.

Samsung is one of the biggest storage manufacturers for gaming PCs, and we’ve recommended a number of its drives in our best gaming SSD guide over the years. This Samsung 990 Evo Plus features faster speeds than a few of those drives, too, including the Samsung 980 Pro and Samsung 870 Evo.

The speed potential is important to recognize, because this Samsung drive is anything but slow. It has a top sequential read speed of 7,150MB/s, while sequential write speeds hit 6,300MB/s, making it one of the fastest drives you can buy if you’re upgrading a PCIe 4.0 system.

It’s also only slightly slower than the WD Black SN850X, our top PCIe 4.0 recommendation, which has read and write speeds of 7,300MB/s and 6,600MB/s apiece, along with a higher price than this Samsung alternative. You can check out our WD Black SN850X review if you want to see us put that drive through its paces.

This is a great drive at PCIe 4.0 speeds, but while the Samsung 990 Evo Plus does feature PCIe 5.0 support, it’s a bit of a technicality. Using it in a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot will limit the drive to using just two PCIe lanes, with a bandwidth limit of 8GB/s. That’s the same bandwidth you’d find with a PCIe 4.0 M.2 drive over four lanes, meaning that there’s no speed advantage for using this drive in PCIe 5.0 mode.

That doesn’t harm this drive’s potential, however. You’ll struggle to find another PCIe 4.0 SSD with these speeds, and at $74.99, you’re getting a 1TB storage boost at a very budget-friendly price. You can pick up this Samsung gaming SSD for yourself from Amazon using this link, with UK gamers able to purchase the same drive using this link instead.
