Daniel Levy reveals how soon Thomas Frank is expected to deliver titles at Tottenham

Daniel Levy has now clarified his statement on wanting Tottenham to win the Premier League and Champions League, and has explained why he is optimistic about what Thomas Frank can achieve at Spurs.

Not long after Tottenham appointed the 51-year-old, Levy said that Tottenham’s ambition is to win the Premier League and the Champions League.

That statement raised eyebrows, and while Thomas Frank has said that he shares Levy’s ambition, the Dane admitted that his side is still considerably behind the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal at the moment.

Frank has said that he wants Tottenham to compete in all four competitions, pointing out that it is something that the club have not done since 2019.

Daniel Levy reveals why he is optimistic about Thomas Frank at Tottenham

Levy has hired and sacked numerous managers over this tenure as chairman, and the 63-year-old believes that the club have made the right decision by turning to the former Brentford boss.

He acknowledged that the Danish coach would need time to build the team he wants, but believes that he will improve the players at the club.

When asked about the appointment of Frank, Levy said on The Overlap: “Whenever you appoint a coach, you always believe it’s right. You need a lot of ingredients for it to be right. Thomas is a highly intelligent individual, a fantastic way about him in terms of communication.

“I think he will be great at both developing young players and older players and making them better. He gets the style of football we want to play. He understands Rome wasn’t built in a day. We haven’t said to him that we want to win the Premier League this year.”

Asked when Frank is expected to win the league, Levy joked: “As soon as possible, but no pressure. We just want to compete at the highest level.”

Levy insists that he has always been ambitious

For some time now, some Spurs fans have accused Levy of prioritising the club’s bottom line over on-pitch success.

However, the Tottenham chairman insists that the club have always had ambitions to win trophies, pointing out that they have regularly reached semifinals and finals during his tenure.

Levy added: “Nothing has changed in terms of our ambition. It’s always been the case. After winning the Europa League, thanks to Ange, we’ve got a taste of it, but it’s not enough. And it’s never been enough.

“We’ve been in 16 or 17 semi-finals, we’ve been in six or seven finals and we haven’t won enough. We need to use that as a springboard to keep winning, that’s what it’s all about. We’ve won two trophies in the last 20+ years.

“We’ve been so close so many times. I can’t really answer why because I’m not the one that picks the team, picks the players.”
