This update comes from Sunday’s edition of AS (as relayed by Sport Witness), which claims that Daniel Levy wants to replace Son with the Los Blancos star.
The outlet points out that Tottenham Hotspur have now reduced their wage bill by around £10m a year by moving on their club legend, thus making room for Rodrygo’s arrival.
It is asserted that a move for the Brazil international make sense for Spurs, both financially and sporting-wise, now that Son has departed.
The report asserts that Tottenham have already contacted Real Madrid to ask for permission to hold talks with Rodrygo.

AS say that until now, Rodrygo has not asked to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, but that could soon change.
It is pointed out that Xabi Alonso barely used him in the Club World Cup, and the 24-year-old is expected to drop further down the pecking order due to Franco Mastantuono’s arrival and Gonzalo García’s emergence.
