Ben Davies has revealed what he thought when Tottenham Hotspur signed Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest two years ago, and has explained why the winger does not get the plaudits he deserves.
Brennan Johnson initially had a touchy relationship with Spurs fans, with his lack of consistency frustrating the supporters.
However, the 24-year-old has managed to win over the Tottenham Hotspur fan base, and he has now well and truly become an icon after scoring what is arguably the club’s most important goal over the last decade and a half in the Europa League final.
Thomas Frank is a fan of Johnson, having previously tried to take him to Brentford, and Spurs fans will be hoping that the former Forest man takes his game to another level under the Dane.

Davies knows the Tottenham attacker well from their time together with the Wales national side, and the 32-year-old has admitted that he was delighted when Spurs secured his services.
The defender insisted that the winger does a lot of good things that some people on the outside do not pick up on.
Davies told Football.London: “Brennan’s a really, really good guy. He came into the Wales squad when I’d been there quite a while and you could see instantly we had a very likeable character, very down to earth, but also someone that when it comes to the nitty gritty of tough football that we knew what we had then and he’s been brilliant through the years that I’ve been with him at Wales.
“I was delighted when he joined this club, to be honest. It was a shrewd signing, and he’s someone who knows where the goal is, someone who does a lot of stuff that maybe a lot of people don’t pick up on, but he’s always one of them that’s in the thick of the action and knows where the goal is.”

Davies admits that he was over the moon when the 24-year-old found the back of the net at Bilbao against Man United.
He revealed that Johnson’s family were in attendance at San Mames, as they always tend to be when he plays for both club and country.
Davies added: “As you could see in those crucial moments in the big games, he stepped up and no more so in the final and for someone like him, I was delighted for him, for his family.
“They’re big supporters of his, but they’re always around that Wales set up, and I see them always at Spurs. So just a great family that deserved that success, and I was very happy for them.”
