Why do Chelsea still not have a shirt sponsor? Blues to begin new season with blank kit

Chelsea are set to begin the new Premier League campaign without a front of shirt sponsor once again.

The Blues played without a brand logo on their kits for the majority of last season.

However, the club did sign a long-term agreement with Emirati property development firm DAMAC in April.

As part of the deal, DAMAC’s logo appeared on the front of Chelsea’s shirts for the remainder of the season.

However, the shirt sponsorship section of the partnership expired prior to the Club World Cup earlier this summer.

Ticket seller Live Nation also briefly served as the club’s sleeve sponsor.

Why does Chelsea not have a shirt sponsor?

Chelsea have yet to announce a front of shirt sponsor for the 2025/26 season.

The Blues had been in talks over a long-term agreement with two major companies last year.

According to The Telegraph, the discussions related to proposals worth £40million.

The club opted against entering an agreement in the hope they could earn a higher figure down the line.

Their Club World Cup triumph last month has boosted those chances.

The report adds that Chelsea are now eyeing a partnership worth closer to £60million.

Between seven and 10 global firms have been competing to become their new shirt sponsor in recent weeks.

With a deal yet to be announced, though, there will be no sponsor on the front of their shirt as they return to action this week.

Chelsea host Bayer Leverkusen in their first pre-season friendly on Friday before welcoming AC Milan to Stamford Bridge two days later.

They will then begin the new Premier League season at home to Crystal Palace on August 17.

Who designs Chelsea’s kit?

Although the Blues are currently without a front of shirt sponsor, they do have a lucrative deal with kit manufacturer Nike.

The US sportswear brand’s agreement with Chelsea was signed in 2016 before coming into effect ahead of the 2017/18 season.

It is understood their 15-year deal is worth a total of £900million.

As a result, the club receive £60million a season as part of the partnership, which expires in 2032.

Nike released Chelsea’s kits for the 2025/26 season prior to the Club World Cup.

Enzo Maresca’s side subsequently claimed the trophy in their new strip in the USA last month.
