Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls closed beta on PS5: dates, how to participate, and available characters

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls aims to be one of the great video games of 2026. This Arc System Works title will be available on PC and PS5, and in September 2025, it will be possible to try it for the first time thanks to its closed beta on PlayStation 5. In this article, we take a look at the most relevant data of this beta, including how to sign up, when it is, and which fighters will be available.

How to sign up for the closed beta of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on PlayStation 5

The official account for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on X has released a trailer announcing the game’s closed beta, which will take place from September 5 to 7, 2025. To sign up, we will have to do it through the official website, although it seems that the registrations themselves will open in a few days.

This free trial will be a first look for all audiences and will include the following options and game modes:

  • Online rooms
  • Offline games
  • Rollback netcode
  • Spectator mode
  • Initial tutorial
  • One scenario: New York
  • Six characters: Captain America, Doctor Doom, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Star-Lord, and Storm.

Don’t say “Marvel vs. Capcom,” say Marvel Tokon

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is Sony’s big bet on fighting games. The developers of this video game are Arc System Works, famous for the Guilty Gear franchise and the recent—and celebrated—Dragon Ball FighterZ. This is a tag team title in which each player uses a team of four Marvel characters to fight each other.

The formula is reminiscent of the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise, but nevertheless, there are many relevant changes: we can use a main character, and the other three are simply assistants, or an active tag system in which the main character can change for his teammates in the middle of a fight. At the start of each battle, these additional options are locked, and restrictions are removed when performing actions such as wall breaks, a mechanic that returns from Guilty Gear Strive.
