Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall closing in on Chelsea exit after just 12 months in £30m deal to Premier League rival

Everton have agreed a fee with a Chelsea of £25.9m plus £4m in add-ons for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, talkSPORT understands.

The 26-year-old looks set to depart Stamford Bridge just a year after joining from Leicester.

Dewsbury-Hall became a Blues player in the summer transfer window before the start of last season, following manager Enzo Maresca through the door at the King Power Stadium.

That transfer was worth £30million, meaning they won’t make a loss on the player.

The midfielder’s time at Chelsea has not gone as he would have wanted, having only starting two Premier League games last term.

He made a total of 13 league appearances, but almost all of them were from the bench as a substitute.

Dewsbury-Hall had the most success on the continent for Maresca’s side, playing in every game of the Europa Conference League.

He played a major part in the Blues winning that European title, scoring four of his five goals for the club in that competition.

However, he now appears to be heading for an exit from Chelsea, supposedly in search of more regular minutes.

Following the signing of Dario Essugo and the loan return of Andrey Santos, places in the Blues’ midfield are even more sparse.

Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia are going to be the leading contenders to start regularly.

It means Dewsbury-Hall is set to depart and Everton are closing in on getting a deal done before the start of the season.

Doucoure replacement?

The Toffees are looking for midfield options after seeing Abdoulaye Doucoure leave at the end of his contract this summer.

Carlos Alcaraz has signed a permanent deal, while Thierno Barry has joined from Villarreal in a £27m transfer, taking the Toffees’ total summer spending to £70m thus far.

But they are still in need of someone to replace Doucoure in the line-up. Doucoure played 33 times in the Premier League last season and his departure has left a gap for another box-to-box player to fill.

And Dewsbury-Hall could well be that player, due to his ability to drop deep and create, as well as break into the penalty area.

David Moyes will be adding the Chelsea man to his midfield group of Idrissa Gueye, James Garner, Tim Iroegbunam and Alcaraz.

This may not be the only imminent arrival for Moyes either, with two bids going in for Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, who is rated at £45m.

Chelsea’s fire sale

Chelsea are set to get rid of Dewsbury-Hall as they begin a fire sale of some of their fringe players.

On top of the ex-Leicester star, the Blues have agreed a deal to sell Lesley Ugochukwu to Burnley.

Ugochukwu spent last season on loan at Southampton, but he’s now on the brink of a permanent exit to Turf Moor.

He has been granted permission to undergo a medical.

Armando Broja has completed his medical test ahead of a move to Scott Parker‘s side too, while Marc Guiu is tipped to leave.
