Dynasty Warriors 25th Anniversary Announcements

Koei Tecmo shared a new video for the 25th anniversary of Dynasty Warriors. This video also had some new announcements about what they are working on for Dynasty Warriors.

The trailer has a lot of scenes depicting the Dynasty Warriors series. One thing I thought was interesting was that they did not include Dynasty Warriors in the trailer. The first game, shown when it hit the year 2000, was Dynasty Warriors 3. There are scenes from 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and even 9 in the trailer, but not a single one from the first Dynasty Warriors. Just a fun nitpick but it really doesn’t show how far the series has come if you don’t include the fighting game. All the other games in the series are Musou games.

The next segment, though, is when the trailer gets interesting. They announced two things related to the Dynasty Warriors series. The first thing is that Major DLC is in development for Dynasty Warriors Origins. I loved Dynasty Warriors Origins and think it was a solid return to form for the series after a few mainline titles becoming more and more focused on the 1 vs 1000 mindset instead of the war strategy musou game it was initially from Dynasty Warriors 2 through Dynasty Warriors 5.

The last thing they announced was that a remaster for an old Dynasty Warriors title is in development as well. They don’t specify which one, but the one I am hoping for is Dynasty Warriors 5. I also hope they include all the add-ons like Empires and Xtreme Legends in the remaster! Regardless of which title it is, I will likely be happy with it. I want Koei Tecmo to port the whole Dynasty Warriors series to modern consoles or at least onto Steam.

I did a whole article on my experience with the series and recommend looking at it if you are interested in seeing how the older titles did and what their strengths were.
