There was a huge emergency response last night to an incident in a town centre.
The A2 was closed near Sittingbourne Railway Station, and the air ambulance arrived at the scene at about 8.40pm.

Police, paramedics and fire crews were also in attendance.
A witness at the scene told KentOnline: “There are at least two fire engines there.
“Three or four ambulances, an air ambulance, six police cars.

“The road is shut off. There are undercover police cars everywhere.
“I’ve never seen an emergency service response like that in my life.”
The emergency helicopter left the scene at just before 10pm, and returned to base.

The nature of the incident is not yet known, but witnesses on social media have described it as a serious accident.
One driver wrote: “Anyone heading through Sittingbourne, London-bound, the Dover Street one-way system is closed after the train station.
“Turn right at Crown Quay Lane, or you’ll get stuck until it’s all clear.”
Emergency services have been contacted for further information.
