Stabbing at retail park sparks emergency response and shop closures

A reported stabbing at a retail park has prompted a huge emergency response and caused shops to shut unexpectedly.

Police officers and paramedics were called to Sevenoaks Way, in Orpington, at midnight today (Saturday), following reports of an altercation.

The London Air Ambulance service also joined crews.

A man was treated at the scene for stab wounds and has since been taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “We await an update on his condition.

“No arrests have been made at this early stage of the investigation.”

Witnesses have said a cordon is in place outside TK Maxx and The Gym Group this morning.

In a post shared online, the Orpington branch of The Gym Group has confirmed it is closed and has advised customers to use nearby sites, including Bexleyheath.

Carpet Giant and Carpets4Less have also said their stores are closed due to the ongoing “police incident”.
