Thomas Frank has praised one Tottenham star’s performance in the 1-0 win over Arsenal and has admitted that he has been impressed by what he has seen from the player over the last month.
Tottenham ticked several important boxes in their win over Arsenal, managing to keep a clean sheet, getting minutes into the legs of key players and coming away from the fixture with no additional injuries.
It is a big boost ahead of Spurs’ Super Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain in Udine in two weeks, which offers Frank the rare opportunity to win a trophy in his first competitive game in charge of Tottenham Hotspur.
From the Spurs head coach’s latest comments, it is clear that a midfielder who impressed against Arsenal, is in line to start against PSG.
Thomas Frank likes what he has seen from Pape Sarr at Tottenham
Sarr scored the game’s only goal in Hong Kong on Thursday, sensationally lobbing David Raya from near the halfway line after Tottenham won back possession.
Frank admitted that Sarr has been one of the players who has caught his eye the most during pre-season so far.
When asked what he made of the Senegal international’s goal, the Tottenham boss said (via Football.London): “An unbelievable goal. Fantastic, well taken. All the credit to Pape. He has impressed me, I must admit. He has been really good in the last four weeks.”
The midfield battle is about to heat up at Spurs
It may seem from Frank’s comments that he sees the 22-year-old as a starter for his side. The Tottenham boss has also previously admitted that he is a big fan of Rodrigo Bentancur.
However, the pair will soon have competition for their places in the side, with Joao Palhinha expected to complete a loan move to Spurs.
We also know that Frank is a fan of Archie Gray, having previously tried to sign him at Brentford, and it will be interesting if he uses the youngster as a number six, which many see as his best position.
