The video game world is filled with titles that pit you against robots, but mechanical beings don’t have to be your enemy. Many games have proved this by including robot companions. These metal creatures serve as your friends throughout whatever adventure you’re on.

9 Video Games That Use Asimov’s Three Laws Of Robotics
Isaac Asimov created three laws to govern robots. These Three Laws of Robotics have found their way into these video games.
They can provide help in combat, technical expertise, or simply add a bit more personality to your team. Some of the best ones do all three of these things and are the highlights of their respective games. Here are several robotic friends that stand out.
8 Claptrap
Borderlands Series

Claptrap is one of the most famous robots in gaming. It’s fair to say that he has his detractors, as some find him annoying. Yet, throughout the Borderlands series, he provides plenty of comedy.
Some of the humor comes at his expense as he is often the butt of the jokes, and things regularly go wrong for him. However, he doesn’t let that keep him down, as the bot has a permanent upbeat attitude. His general cheeriness, no matter what is going on, is also part of what makes him entertaining.
7 BD-1
Star Wars Jedi Series

There are a lot of great droids in the Star Wars franchise, but BD-1 from Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor still ranks among the best. The little guy is a loyal sidekick to Cal Kestis, helping the Jedi with any technical roadblocks he comes across during his adventure.
So, the bot opens doors, extends bridges, unlocks chests, and more. Therefore, Cal would struggle without him. However, that isn’t the only thing he brings to the game. He is also a delightful character to have around. He may not speak, but he bounces around and does happy little beeps.
6 Dog
Half-Life 2

There are a lot of dogs in gaming, but none quite like Dog from Half-Life 2. After all, he is a huge, robotic dog that is the pet of Alyx Vance. She got him when she was young and has upgraded him over the years. By Half-Life 2, he is big, strong, agile, and very helpful.
Despite being visually different from the standard dog, he acts like one, as he’s very loyal and enthusiastic. That, along with his size, means he’s very useful throughout the game, as he comes to your rescue on multiple occasions.
5 Codsworth
Fallout 4

At the start of Fallout 4, Codsworth serves as your robotic butler. Then, you retreat to a vault as the world gets turned into a wasteland. Yet, Cosworth is made of stern stuff, so he survives and spends the rest of the game as your companion.
In some ways, he’s a very stereotypical butler in that he speaks with a British accent and uses some fancy vocabulary. He’s also very loyal and makes sure to look after you. This sometimes means getting involved in fights.
4 HK-47
Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Series

Typical robot companions in video games are wholesome and friendly bots. That is not the case with HK-47, though. This guy is an assassin who seems to take some joy in death and destruction. He is programmed to kill, and that’s what he’ll do.
That said, he is still loyal to his masters during the Knights of the Old Republic games. And he certainly will kill for them, which makes him worthwhile during fights. Along with being useful, he’s also very entertaining, whether he’s talking about his love of violence or calling humans “meatbags.”
3 BT-7274
Titanfall 2

A big part of Titanfall 2’s appeal is the inclusion of a titan named BT-7274, who features in the single-player story mode. He’s far bigger than the typical robot gaming companion. Therefore, his strength and combat prowess are very handy at times during the adventure.

Games wouldn’t be the same without these memorable companions.
Since he’s a titan, though, you can also jump inside and pilot him, which makes him even deadlier. His capability in battle isn’t the only positive thing about having him around. He also shows some personality and is very protective of you.
2 Clank
Ratchet And Clank Series

Not many companions get to feature in the title of their game series. However, there aren’t many sidekicks that are as iconic as Clank from Ratchet and Clank. The little bot has been around for a long time, providing Ratchet with advice and technical expertise.
His cautious and grounded nature is a great foil for the more adventurous Ratchet. Clank can have fun, too, though, as he has been known to contribute to the series’ humor at times. Even when he isn’t being humorous, he’s still a likable bot to have around.
1 Legion
Mass Effect Series

Legion isn’t a mere robot. He is a member of a race of synthetic beings called the Geth. The Geth are typically antagonists in the Mass Effect series, but in the second game, you meet and befriend Legion.
Conversations with the creature are always compelling as he teaches you a lot about his species. What you also learn during these conversations is that there is more depth to Legion than it initially seems. Plus, he also provides some funny lines, and he is very effective in combat due to his impressive sniping skills.
