The latest Nintendo Direct has confirmed that Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will officially launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 13, 2025. This marks the debut of Kiwami 2 on a Nintendo platform, while Kiwami returns with notable upgrades that enhance the experience for both newcomers and longtime fans from this SEGA iconic franchise.
Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the original 2005 PS2 title, will feature improved graphics, performance enhancements, and a new language pack that includes Spanish (Latin American), Brazilian Portuguese, German, and French. Players who already own the game on the original Nintendo Switch will have the option to pay a small upgrade fee to access the enhanced Switch 2 version.
Meanwhile, Yakuza Kiwami 2, built on the Dragon Engine, delivers a more cinematic experience with refined combat, detailed environments, and smoother animations. This is the first time the game will be playable on a Nintendo system, expanding the franchise’s reach beyond its traditional PlayStation and Xbox audiences.
These releases follow the successful launch of Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, which remains exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s growing support for the platform signals a broader strategy to bring the full Like a Dragon saga to Nintendo fans.
With a stronger third-party lineup and increasing support from major Japanese studios, Nintendo Switch 2 continues to position itself as a versatile home for both legacy franchises and new experiences.
