Troy Antiques & Collectibles and Legendary Loot Gaming in Troy will celebrate back to school by holding a special event on Aug. 9 featuring food trucks.
The combo antique and retro video game stores – which opened earlier in July – offers a unique shopping experience with two stores inside one building. Troy Antiques & Collectibles features a variety of antiques and collectibles, while Legendary Loot Gaming features video game consoles, games and accessories for consoles dating back to the Atari all the way to current generation consoles and everything in between.
On Aug. 9, the stores will have both a food truck and beverage truck.. A food truck that serves BBQ, homemade fries, cowboy baked beans and cast-iron peach cobbler out of an old “chuck wagon” food truck will be on site, along with a lemonade truck, as well.
“We’re just trying to get the word out about our stores,” Troy Antiques & Collectibles owner Jennifer Howard said. “A lot of our clientele has been the younger generation and we know the college is about to start back up. They’ve been coming in and we wanted to reach out and do something to give them a chance to come in and shop with us.”
The two stores have been stocking up on inventory to get ready for the event, which will also feature extended business hours on Aug. 9.
“We’re just going to have food and we’ll extend our hours because we want to get people to come out,” Legendary Loot Gaming owner Lewis Howard said. “We’ll have the air conditioning cranked up in here, so everybody can come in and beat the heat and spend some money.”
Troy Antiques & Collectibles and Legendary Loot Gaming are located at 816 South Three Notch Street in Troy. Hours of operation are Wednesdays through Friday from noon until 5 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 until 5 p.m. Aug. 9 will see those hours extended, as well.
