Tottenham player ratings from the 1-0 North London Derby win over Arsenal

The full-time whistle has blown between Tottenham and Arsenal in the North London Derby in Hong Kong, and the player ratings are in.

Tottenham full-time player ratings vs Arsenal

Guglielmo Vicario – After a quiet first half that saw Guglielmo Vicario threatened very little, the second period saw Arsenal push hard for an equaliser, but the Italian shot-stopper proved equal to the task as he completed his first full ninety minutes of pre-season. 8.

Pedro Porro – After a solid first-half display, Porro carried on with his impressive showing into the second half, with the full-back keeping Gabriel Martinelli quiet on his flank. 8.

Cristian Romero – Another good display from the Tottenham captain for the day, who ensured a clean sheet in the 62 minutes he played before coming off for Kevin Danso. 8.

Micky van de Ven – The Dutchman has carried on his pre-season admirably, and today was no different, as he played a big part in Tottenham’s solid defensive display, helping with interceptions and ball recoveries. Van de Ven could very much have made it 2-0 had he done better with his header after being found by Mathys Tel. 8.

Djed Spence – A more conservative full-back set-up was on show today from Thomas Frank, with both full-backs picking their moments to overlap. Spence spent most of his time defending against Bukayo Saka and came out on top in that battle, keeping the Englishman quiet. 8.

Rodrigo Bentancur – The Uruguayan had to play most of the second half on a yellow card, having picked up a booking in the 35th minute. He often looked to cover defensively on the left, helping mark the half-space behind Spence. 8.

Pape Matar Sarr – Incredible display from Sarr, who gave Tottenham the lead in the closing stages of the first half thanks to a lovely chip over David Raya, scoring from the halfway line. The midfielder was also crucial in holding things down, as he made timely interceptions and tackles in the middle of the park. 7.

Lucas Bergvall – It was a decent outing for Bergvall, who got a run out as the number ten. He did little in terms of creating chances, but was looking to press from the front, and when Tottenham defended in a mid-block, Bergvall often tracked runners, making timely interceptions. 7.

Wilson Odobert – It was a bright first half from Odobert, who hit the post and was full of running both going forward and defensively. In the second half, however, chances were few and far between. 6.

Mohammed Kudus – A solid first north London derby for the new signing, albeit in a friendly. Kudus is known for his flair and creativity up top. However, in this clash, it was his defensive work rate that stood out, as he tracked back consistently. 7.

Richarlison – Spurned two good chances in the first half, which could have seen Tottenham lead 3-0 had he taken them. The chances did not come in the second half, and the forward was later hooked and replaced by Mathys Tel. 6.

Substitutes

Brennan Johnson – Replaced Mohammed Kudus in the second half and had little impact on proceedings. 5.

Kevin Danso – The Austrian came on for Cristian Romero and helped Tottenham keep things tight at the back, winning a couple of headers. 6.

Mathys Tel – Came in for Richarlison and created a chance with a cross from the left, which found Micky van de Ven, but the Dutchman headed wide. 6.

Heung-min Son – Came on for Odobert and was received with a grand welcome from fans in China. N/A.

Ben Davies – Came in for Van de Ven. N/A.

Yves Bissouma – Came in for Lucas Bergvall. N/A.

James Maddison – A short and brief cameo for the Englishman who is only working his way to full fitness, after replacing Pape Matar Sarr. N/A.
